Annatar, thx indeed! OK, so i've put the replay file in the above-described directory, in the Record-singleplayer subfolder. (The file name is: leinad_vs_hunting.record, I downloaded it from this site.) When I enter the Watch menu, it appears on the list, but says "Invalid save file", and I can't go on. What should I do now? edit: I tried in the multiplayer subfolder as well, got the same error message.

Sorry for noob question, but how can I view the replays downloaded from this site?
Pirates are a very irritating factor. Why not make a new unique faction instead of this medieval-like neoromantic crap "pirates"? The most lame things in pirates: - you can pay them off with "bounty" - they are overpowered, one asteroid can maintain like 50-60 pirate ships - they are magnetically drawn to razing planets and buildings (esp. trade ports) instead of fighting my ships there (LOL).
Thanks very much guys! I managed to conquer an AI for the first time, using all the tips you proposed here. I think the key elements are: 1. economic development: early speed expansion, population upgrades, mines, trade ports 2. planetary defense: 2 repair bots, 2 hangars, 4 gauss defense guns (or what's their name) / planet. yes, i find these structures more important than maintaining a large fleet. 3. fleet management: go for a good mix of units,
Uh, so non consensus on the ideal TEC fleet yet. It would be good if the posters would tell on which map are they using this fleets.
Akkan Battlecuiser Abilities:Colonize: This ability is absolutely invaluable. It makes the colonizer, not just for TEC, the first choice for your cap and the first choice for ability. Ironically, once you have level one with this ship, don't bother with upgrading it. Level 2 and 3 just give free extractors. A lot of good that does. Saves you a whopping 250 cred per mine and the minute or so of resources that mine would have produced. Still, the strategic option this ability off
Thanks guys, that was helpful indeed... +karma points given to all of you. I think my problem is that I haven't built enough planet defenses, and had to maintain a large fleet to defend my empire. Specific (maybe noob-ish) questions: 1. if i can build heavy cruisers, should i even invest time+money in training frigates? 2. if i build only cruiser + capship fleets, what's the good composition of this fleet, i mean like 80% heavy cruisers 3. how can i assign a hot-key
I've got the very same problem with TEC, please read my post and help: [link="https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/312426"]TEC Strategy - help![/link]
And I thought this forum was helpful...
So I've been trying to find out an operable TEC strategy, but I always end up geting beaten by the AI... I know pretty much about economic and resource management, cap ships, frigates, cruisers, but all these infos don't worth a dime. Even Ke5trel's viable strategies don't seem to work for me, maybe I'm not skilled enough to execute them properly. So I'd like to know what's a good winning strategy for TEC in a smaller map.
