[quote who="harpo99999" reply="6" id="2625730"] It's just that if you only *need* the client for installing/updating, why couldn't there just be some web interface we log into to get access to the installers which we just download, etc. Also it seems like I could use impulse to install the game(s) on one machine and then just copy the install directory to another machine and circumvent the client entirely. that is called impulseanywhere(but it is still a client program that will do

[quote who="Darvin3" reply="4" id="2625626"] I have to have a separate client installed in order to play this particular game when it's the ONLY game that requires it. I know both clients are very similar and I don't want to start a flame war here about which is better. As I said, you can turn off Impulse and you only need to run it when installing and patching. I've got Impulse set up so it doesn't run at startup, so it's really more of a peripheral. I unders

Thanks for the quick replies. @myfist0: Yes I saw those on the wiki, I was wondering if there was a place which still had the trees shown graphically like they are in-game. @Darvin3: That was what I'd feared was the case. My issue with impulse has more to do with the fact that I have to have a separate client installed in order to play this particular game when it's the ONLY game that requires it. I know both clients are very sim

Hi. So I'm in the mood to start playing Sins again and was thinking of getting the expansions now that they have all been released. The thing is that I'd really prefer not to use impulse as I have all of my "digital only" games tied to Steam and don't want to deal with another client just for 1 game. Is there any way to get the expansions as a standalone installation like the original? The word was that they would be released as such once they all came

Ok after discovering the hotkeys I seem to have fixed the problem. Thanks for the help! :)

I see, though I did look around in the options and everything seemed to be the same as when I first configured it. I will take another look though.

bump. I also tried starting a new game and it was still stuck in cinematic mode. It's preventing me from playing :(

So I just loaded the game up to my last save and cinematic mode is turned on by default, funny since I didn't have it set that way. I try to turn it off but the button doesn't do anything. I tried restarting comp and using different save but neither of those worked. This is so far the only problem I've had with this game.

haven't played all races a lot, however so far I like the TEC and vasari more than advent. vasari is nice because ship for ship they're the most durable (in my experience) and phase gates are awesome. I like the TEC visual style as well as vasari, but I don't like advent as much. Advent seem to favor a slighly more defensive game, using their culture to supplement their own attacks. Their cap ship abilities seem to lean toward benefiting their fleet and work well in conjunction with one anot

I'm in the middle of a match playing as advent, just played as vasari (trying tot see who I like best). I just don't "get" the advent. I don't like their visual style (even though it's similar to vasari) and their tech trees are weird. They just seem too passive in general. Is there any diagrams of the research trees for all three factions or a guide just explaning the general focus of each tree?
