Strange, but simple problem that I see no reason for, but I like to play Huge games with 5 systems: As empires epand to a decent size and more stuff is going on, a simple chat message from any AI brings my framerate to a crawl until it disappears. I don't know if this occurs in multiplay. What frustrates me is there is no option to relegate chat messages to the update tracker or something, without bringing my framerate down. Confirmed 1.05 is crashing, 1.00 is not. And yes, 1440x900 is my desktop (monitor's native), and that's what I run the game at. Everything at Highest, Bloom enabled, runs extremely well.
It's at 1.05, I downloaded the 1.05 bonus pack immediately after I registered. Today, I'm going to uninstall and try playing the CD version with no patch.

A little more definite than some of these other crash reports, the last two times I've tried to play in the full game (since I bought it -- these are the only two games I've tried to start after the demo) have crashed very early on. The map is Random - Small, and the first time, it crashed without the CD, second time, with the CD in the drive. I'm running on Vista, if that helps.
