I am currently using Diskeeper09 (mostly in the background auto mode) and havent had any hassles with it. I think its worth trying out the 30 day version.

Diskeeper has worked the best for me so far. Even the background defrag feature works without any issues. And yes i think its very fast.
Another vote for Diskeeper 2008 from me. Among the automatic defraggers and other third party tools out there in the market, I liked DK the most. It does a great job with the real time background defrag. You can also turn off the feature. Like the interface too. Havent had any problems.
