I think a better answer would be just to limit the number of mines in a system to 30 or something like that. you couldn't have mines everywhere
AI diplomacy bit is being completely gutted and rewritten.
I'm excited to hear that. though I do like the missions, so I hope you keep them in some form or another. ADDED: OH, and I missed one. Fighters should NOT fly through stars. I have a save file of it happening if need be. They should be able to skim the star surface if need be, but should have to generally still go around like all the other ships. &nbs

Sorry if some of these have already been addressed. To me it seems better just to make a list of feedback points rather than hunt down the existing posts that talk about (or don't) the same issues and post "I agree" on those. The new patch really helped out entrenchment I think The gravity well support on the starbases really make them a force to be feared. Once you enter a place with them you need to either run out right away (so the exit dama
Likewise, it seems the provisional government starbase upgrade just doesn't work at all right now... you can bomb a planet out from under an upgraded starbase. It's probably intended to stop both bombardment and rebellion, but neither works at the moment.
That is what confused me. because I was like "I took out planets under starbases by bombarding I thought" but its a bug. That makes sense.
target planet into a phase stabilizer node
REALLY! I didn't notice that line of text. Huh... that changes them quite a lot. for the record, 3 of those super weapons will destroy almost all orbital structures. 2 will destroy almost all ships. I wasn't claiming that culture was entirely useless, just that since it couldn't convert planets (an annoying effect to other players I've found) it does littl

So, there is a new balance situation. So, my friend builds this starbase in some space junk at a bottleneck to the main part of his empire (he is advent) and basically camps all his forces there. The moment anything of min tries to come through, his star base pops me with a stun ability that disables my phase drives so I cannot get past it and he just tears me to bits. Great, thats how you play starbases! How, I'm vesari, and I got me a s

I would have to disagree. You can't 'run past' the defences like a starbase. I tried just this thing in a multiplayer game with a friend. You set up a base... the key is to put it near the exit lanes to the inner planets, then you slap the enhancement that slows or stops phase jumping. It had that, a hanger upgrade and a defense upgrade. I watched a starbase just eat a fleet for breakfast. The fleet was pretty sizable (3 bars on the zoomed

My first feedback that I want to mention (which I don't see anybody else talking about) is 'why can't you place starbases?' I don't want to have to micro manage my little ship to fly him over to a spot where I want my base. I want to click on him, tell him where I want the star base, then go work on other things expecting him to fly his own butt to where I want the base and build it. It should be the same as any other building. This isn't a problem for

The mines work well enough for me. I had a pirate fleet try to attack one of my hangers and the mines just ripped him a new one. Like I was wondering if the mines were too good at close range.

I was also going to comment on the range and balance. One of the starbases can move about in the orbit around the planet, which makes it pretty awesome, while others you have to get the enemy really close for effective use (namely advent)
Most importantly, unless you like long games, set all the Game Option speeds to Fast. Doing so will help with pacing quite a bit.
why does this have to be said? Shouldn't that mean that 'fast' should become the normal speed?

I think its funny that X-play awarded Sins best strategy game award, and since everybody has been using screenshots form the X-play presentation. The thing is, they didn't play regular Sins. They played entrenchment (which isn't out yet). So the best RTS game of 2008 isn't out yet.
Oh, and this just occored to me (while I was reading the list) Since the change logs get Shorter and shorter and shorter, one day all you dudes and chicks over there at Stardock and Ironclad will be sitting around, the perfect Sins change finnaly released and your manager will come in and say,"Alright, great job Team! But, I'm sorry to say that... you're FIRED( )!! Yup, that's right, since Sins is finnaly devoid of all those little niches we don't need you anymore, but tha

That happened to me once. I didn't catch who actually said it. I figured it was somebody that was GOING to attack, but then decided that they shouldn't because I had a HUGE fleet that I was busy way-pointing through that gravity well to go someplace I cared about (like, i figured that because I was busy dealing with a fight, he 'knew' when I scheduled for a capital ship and fleet to move through the planet and decided to back off)
The more copy protection/DRM measures that are on a game, the less likely it is that I will buy it. This does NOT mean that I will pirate it instead, for those who come onto the forum and accuse everyone of piracy for not supporting DRM. Most of the people I know agree with this stance. Online activation is where I personally draw the line. Because I already have heard the "most everyone has the Internet" ar
