Ok, well I guess I'll stick to the mod for when I want to take pretty looking screenshots. Thanks for the help.

So no one knows of a way to do this? :(
You cannot predict what space warfare will be like any more than people during the revolutionary war could predict what modern warfare would be like. That much is simple logic. There is no "fiction excuse fallacy." If writers of science fiction take no liberty in bending science, then all science fiction will be the same. Wanderer, repeating things over and over again does not make them true. You should learn this.
All of them? I doubt it.
Hey, wanderer, tell me, when did I put forth my own interpretations? All I said was that you cannot accurately predict these things, and your pathetic attempt to stomp the interpretations of everyone else in this thread are, well, pathetic. Honestly, you can have your interpretation, they can have theirs. Do you really have to shit all over everyone else simply because you think you're right and they're wrong? The truth is, you're not any more right than they are. This is ab
Cinematic mode does not do it, nor does disable UI.
This is such a stupid argument, people are claiming that they ACTUALLY KNOW how space combat would work. The truth is, you're all probably wrong, and should stop arguing about it. This thread is about what you think it would be like, not a thread to stomp on other people's ideas of science fiction.
I found the mod, and it works for what I want, but it's kinda a temporary fix, because playing the game with the planets always appearing as dots when zoomed out is a bit of a pain. All the screenshots I have seen taken of the game have no planets in the background (on both this site and others), so there must be an option...
I need a mod for it? There's no in-game option? I'll check that out, then. Checked it, that's not what I want. I'm simply looking for a way to take decent screenshots by disabling the view of planets outside of the gravity well that I'm in.
Is there any way to disable the view of the semi-transparent planets in the background for screenshots? I know control+shift+z is disable UI, but that doesn't do it.
The fact that nothing actually orbits the planets, such that orbital structures stay in the exact same position relative to other planets.
Anyone know who composed the soundtrack for Sins? It's one of the best I've heard, on par with Total Annihilation, I'd say. Very fitting. Just curious.
A few things: Scale adjustments: When zoomed in to the level where you're going to be seeing small details, planets should be big. And by big, I mean HUGE. Maybe to actual scale, as that would be very hard, but bigger than they are now. Capital ships should be slightly bigger. Distances in general should be bigger in comparison to ship size. Smaller strike craft and missiles. Gameplay: Fewer, but more powerful, capital ships. LRM frigates should not be the only viable f
A few things. There is no stealth in space.Space fighters make no sense.
I hate when people bog down science fiction with, well, things that aren't fiction. You can only be accurate to a degree, before it starts getting lame because remaining strictly to what is actually possibly greatly limits how creative you can be. Anyway, I imagine it as a relatively long range slugfest, in which detection of the enemy occurs rather rapidly and capital ships have ver
I think capital ships are epic enough, to be honest. You can't keep adding bigger ships to a game, or you just end up with a fleet of absolutely giant ships. The point of capital ships is for them to function as the core of the fleet, hence the "flagship" title on your first one. I personally think they should buff capital ships slightly, and lower the amount available (definitely, 16 is too many), but we do *not* need more big ships. To me, a Kol leading a fleet of LRM frigates and
This would probably be really hard to do and completely impractical, but having the planets actually revolving around the sun (thus shifting phase lanes etc) would be awesome. Oh, and the structure of solar systems currently is fairly unrealistic. Once again impractical, but having more realistic solar systems (ice planets far away from star, terran only in that belt where a life-supporting planet can occur, and desert closer to the sun) would be cool. Probably not going to happen, th
Twice, now, my nv4_disp driver has crashed after playing sins for about 3 hours. I'm currently using an 8800 gts g92 with driver version 6.14.0011.6921 Any reason why this is happening, or any fixes for it?
The title, I'm pretty sure, is referring to both the TEC's (or trade order's, at the time) treatment of the advent, and to the Vasari. A common theme in the game's backstory seems to be the sins of the past coming back to wreck you. Anyway, I like the TEC simply because the Kol is badass.
