I'm an owner of SoaSE and entrenchment. Loved the game years ago, and sadly I have not played it in sometime. Have there been any graphical improvements to Rebellion over the vanilla SoaSE? It looked beautiful before, but that was some time ago.... Unfortunately I need shinnies and perdy 'splosions. I know... I know... I'm needy. Thanks in advance.

I've had zero problems with Sins and Kaspersky. BUT... if you really want to see some sparks fly, open up the Forge tools while running Kaspersky....
I haven't been able to see them yet X-( I'm going to try to update again tonight. One thing I would love to see, more to the point, hear, and I have no idea if it is even possible... Random voices!! Did you ever spam build a ton of one kind of ship and end up getting irratated at the same comments everytime they are built, moved, or jumped? I think having a voice "set" of at least three different random comments istead of the same thing repeated over and over again would be *t
One more thing.... I am assuming ngen.exe is from stardock/impulse ( I hope!!)? I had about 17 of them running at about 5k a piece. Using XP Pro here. They went away when I started killing impulse from the task manager. Impulse does work on XP, right?!
I copy/pasted my serial from the email ( I forgot my login info doh!) and reactivated and it is still doing the same thing. It is stuck on "Updating Impulse...connecting" in the lower left corner and the options from the blue orb are all grayed out.
So I eh... finally had some time to sit down and try out the beta. I download Impulse, enter my log in info.... deal with 300 billion firewall messages until I just forfeited my privacy and turned Kaspersky off. Get Impulse running... and now have been trying to obtain an Impulse update that has been "connecting" now for a few hours. Wouldn't it have been a beneficial option to place the updated version of Impulse on line so we can download the most recent version instead of having to update?<b
I usually just highlight them, and then just right click on the fleet icon. Also works directly from factories, just highlight the factory, right click the fleet, and everything produced goes to that fleet. I usually have to "clean them up" later especially when I have two fleets in the same well. I have to select them all then re-hit the create fleet icon, otherwise they kind of get their own ideas and decide to hang out with their buddies in a different fleet.
Civ 4 did move away from the SoDs with the introduction of unit roles (flank, siege...) with strict unit maintenance costs. Unfortunately, this just resulted in mini-SoDs. But, who really plays Civ4 solely for the combat? It gets over tedious after the intial land grab IMHO. But yeah, unfortunately, it is part of the strategy genre.
I just noticed something today. When you meet up with a the local militia, they have better teamcolors/icons than we (PC and AI) do. I just played a game, and some had multicolored cool patterns on the empire tab as well on on screen, and we are stuck with mono-colored boring symbols. Is there a way to make these available during the team selection/map setup screen? Or is there a way to add better icons for our teams? Thanks in advance.
The Advent can get a refinery-type structure? I didn't think that they could.Nope. They still don't.
Actually, they can. Its a research toggle that changes a trading post to "focus" on resources. I've built the trade posts, I've researched the skill, I toggled the ability... but but I didn't notice it do anything.... my rates did not change over time. So it *is* there, whether is does anything at all is debatable.
Hmm, interesting. Thanks for the information.
Advent's Malice ability... can some one fill me in on the damage values per upgrade please? The tool tip says 30% and stays the same for 3 upgrades. When I use it no matter what level, the debuff is always 30%... Assuming this is a typo? Or is this broke? One point wonder? Thanks in advance.
That is a very good question! I know culture towers stack. I'm kinda new to the game, so I'd hate to lead you astray, but I want to say no, hangers and defenses do not cost maintenance. I'm actually kinda surprised the fighters/bombers in the hangers don't go against the pop cap though... The thing with trading posts, is that early on, they suck. I've been playing with them and on my most populated planets, my income rate increases by +0.3 per trading post. Considering the i
I *think* the white arrow means that is the squad leader. The yellow arrow: dunno.
This is my first Galactic/Solar RTS.. and I've only been playing a week. But there are some things I'd like to see added ( or that I have not seen yet). More victory conditions ( Diplomatic, culture, technology, see Civ). More Civ building. Markets, shrines, monuments, govt structures (re: tax/pop rates)... Again, think of civ. As it is now, we don't really do much with the planets once we "Take them over". Split the infrastructure up into defensive, pop building... Needs more
Venym, I'm kinda new around here, but after having a nightmare with my puchased copy of Mass Effect no longer activating, how is this Impulse thing bad? I'm assuming Impulse is a Steam? So what's the big deal? As long as it doesn't pad the pockets of SecuROM and it keeps my game DRM free.... they can put pink bunnies on the intro screen for all I care. To me, securom is worse than the pirates... and why people don't see that the MS marketing team is pushing piracy to secure
I went heavy into the Civics research and I made it through the Policy tree and proceeded to research Insurgency. I then decided to clean out the system of the my local opponent :) I noticed there were some TEC ships ( I was TEC and my opponent was Advent) and the rebel ships started attacking me (they said rebel and had the rebel fist from the research icon). Why would something I spent time researching and funding attack me? Is this a bug? Shouldn't they be "helping" me since I am freein
Err... no edits?! Meant to say it was a "relaxing" game... relaxing... not realizing game.... stupid spellchecker...
I just got the game three days ago, and I love it also!! I got locked out of my purchased copy of Mass Effect, I heard this game has some reasonable DRM so I picked it up. No more DRMed games for me....Thank you!! There are some really good threads in the strategy forum, you just have to dig a bit. One of the things I do differently than you from what I could tell in your brief, is I do not make a fleet early. I send out maybe two scouts in different directions and look for asteroids fo
