Hi Craig,Did you guys ever consider that people prefer having one add-on that can be bought in stores ?Love the game, think what you guys created is superb, BUT, I'm sorry to tell you, if you guys are solely going to release these threw the internet, then I can assure you, you are going to loose alot of fans !!!Do hope you guys reconsider and make them available threw retail !!! These micro-expansions are basically the major parts of
You can't create an archived copy of a specific patch. But you can make an archive of the current version. It can be useful to create an archiving before updating, especially if if is a beta update
are you saying that i can effectively copy-n-paste the install folder into my archive? this would be good enough for me if that is what you are saying?
You could use then the download and arcgive feature of impulse.
could you clarify please?
We will not be providing standalone patches for v1.1 or for any future version of any of our games. Updates will only be made available via Impulse moving forward. If you don't have an Internet connection on your gaming rig for some reason, it's very easy to update a copy of Sins on an Internet-connected PC, archive that, and then burn it to disc. You can then use Impulse offline to restore the updated archive on your other system.
could you elaborate on this. a
This doesn't really make sense. Regardless of how the update is provided (from a FTP server or Impulse) you'd be having troubles either way.
yes it does make sense, perfect sense. i have 100Mb/sec at work, and limited bandwidth at home with expensive charges at home for exceeding this. on top of this, when i come back to play the game in a few years using my favourite mods i want to be able to select the patch the mod was made to work under. giv
I can understand Sins moving to impulse, it will allowing for constant micro-patching which is a good thing, and impulse does sounds like a good idea, but 1.1 is not a micro-patch and i do not have reliable internet at home. Please, at least give us 1.1 as a separate download.
Half-Life and its sequel, as well as a myriad of derivatives on the Source engine (Day of Defeat, Counter-Strike, Team Fortress Classic, Team Fortress 2, etc.) are arguably some of the most successful online games of all time. Note that all of updates for these games are available only through the Steam distribution platform, and none of the doom-and-gloom scenarios you painted have happened. Steam is so successful that many other gaming distributors are choosing it over the stand-alone
and will you please change your mind about providing a separate download of the patch, your funky system is all well and good but i like to archive particular patches so i can revisit the game years in the future and play my favourite mods.
@venymI imagine only a person who is a pirate would have a problem with using Impulse. Stop making waves over nothing. There is still no copy protection, and is by far the most accessable game in terms of lack of antipiracy software.
wrong. i would like a separate downloadable patch thank you very much. [edit] let me state this more plainly: i want a patch i can keep. i have an archive for all the patches released for my games, i value this ability,
I'd like to see: Much better planetary defences that remain viable late in the game. Techs for improved allegiance that would make very large maps easier.
any plan for a dawn trilogy mod?
