I have played a cupple of games now and agree with earlier commentators in that the AI is sometimes strange. I wonder just why they hardly ever try to trade techs, planets etc with me. I work hard to get good deals on techs and it sometimes gives the me an edge, but the AI never tries to do the same with me. Another point I have wondered about: sometimes they come about asking sth like "The xyz are growing too strong. We suggest to secretly supply arms" etc.. But then they do not go o
It is very satisfying to destroy a particuarly tenacious enemies homeworld. And pre-Terror stars this was the only way to do it.
Agreed, but it just does not make any sense. Why should a planet suddenly be unihabitable? The Korath have a spore ship, i.e. a unique technology, to do so, but basically any player can get the same effect after conquering without having control over some special technology. Destroying planets should only

Hi guys, What's that? I had to destroy a colony due to some economic problems [e digicons][/e] and now the planet is listed as unihabitable, but the solar system's sun mentions still one colonized planet (but 0 habitable planets [e digicons]>:([/e] )... That's crap, I wanted to use the planet later on again. cu Tokla

So this is what happened.... My peacekeepers were mass driver and armor based so researching armor and beam weaons was the clue. It is true that they wouldn't attack me but their appearance slowed down my game, i.e. scroll speed and any actions taken as long as a peasekeeper is on screen! I couldn't believe it, as soon as all peacekeepers are off screen the game would run soomthly again. So due to this nuisance I decided to kick them out of the galaxy. It is an epic war, because they

Hi, I just encountered mega event "Peacekeepers". All arround are kicking peacekeepers that have double the strength of anything else in the universe. How do I get rid of these beasts? Improve until I can beat them? Do they disappear at some point? Thx!

I love the way he points at hillarious, illogical, inconsistent, strange and absurd issues in galciv2. Example? There you go: " I just hope they know good TV when they see it." " In a few weeks, the number came back: one thousand million billion. Er..." " you can keep adding deal-sweeteners until their response text turns green, indicating they'll go for i

Yes that's it. When I wrote the post, I had already waited for quite some time. The truth is that the AI will start researching the cure at some point (in my case when already half of their population was gone). Long story short, they don't give the cure a very high preference. As a consequence they would also not be willing to pay / trade particularly much when I offered it to them....
I don't mind waiting until October, as long as they covered the major problems.
Me neither, but I don't think they will. Maybe they'll improve espionage, but the most important thing in my view - the AI - might not be touched anymore. This of course are only my worries...

Hey, so I first need to say that I am really a newbe to galciv2. Really, I just completed my third game. One of the things that tempted me intitially about galciv2 was the amazing choice of different difficulty levels of the AI. However, generally I do not like games where the AI gets some sort of bonus. You know, I rather like chess computers, where the AI is confronted with the same situation and, well, 'ressources' as I am. Now I just completed my third game on level tough, which, as I

I'd like to bring that post a bit up again! I thought what is still missing is an improvement of the whole culture concept. This is a lot about realism. No matter if based on cultural influence or classical invasion, after conquering a new planet from an alien race inhabitants are treated just as normal civilians of an empire. But this is just crap, my appologies. There should be some kind of occupational strategy as well as an idea of what it means to integrate an alien race to a gala

Thanks, that's helpful, though these extreme worlds with a red/green circle appear to be really rare. At least on the maps I have been playing so far, they obviously were so rare that I did not even notice them ;-) I would certainly like it more if any world could be colonialized at some point of technological developement, just as in good old MOO2 times...

Hi, ok, this is probably really a newbe question but anyways. From old times MOO2 I am used to colonialize extreme worlds after research the appropriate tech. Now, I am all surrounded by class 0 planets that look like barren worlds and have research the appropriate basic tech (barren world col.). But still I cannot colonialize any new planet... is there something I do wrong? Or did I get the whole story wrong? Thanks for any answer Tokla
