PLEASE HELP! entity files are scrambled words and wingdings. in Sins Modding Sins Forums

I read a guide on modding the kol battleship, but when I go to the part where I had to open the .entity file all it was were scrambled words and wingdings! I recently checked out the modding guide "Modding_XSItoSins_ModdingSupplement" and I read through the whole thing, then this happens: When ever I open up a .entity folder it just has scrambled wingdings and words.
