Um what I don't get is why he groups online shooters and MMORPG's in the same box. It's expected (generally from my experience) that an online shooter is for free, MMORPG's well I generally don't care for them. Had some fun playing wow until my trial ran out and then there was no way I was paying for it (no offense to those who like the game it just isn't for me).
Also which enemy was it, because I believe that the Vasari have a support cap ship (I believe the fourth one) has the ability to give a speed boost to nearby ships thus enabling them to get away faster.
Also make sure you have some carriers, without them you have no idea to chase routing forces. They enable you to catch and destroy some light ships when they flee and try to phase jump.
I find that even the textures seem to look better from farther away too. Before I would have to zoom in to see the ship at it's best now I can easily see how they are supposed to look like from a farther distance. This is mostly on the cap ships for reference.
The only issue with a campaign is that it could have ended up being like EAW where you ended up preparing for a fight in space only to afterwards have another 15 planets show up for you to conquer.
Well I moved up and I can say I don't regret it, faster ships blowing up. Better strike craft. One thing that still annoys me is how the A.I always has a grudge against the player to the point of ignoring an enemy in the same system of their just to go for you.
I was kind of thinking of it along the lines of tristan. Spoiler right here: Though I did watch the whole time to see if he was breathing but you can never be sure. Personally one of my favorite parts of the movie when the joker started banging the detonator with his fist. Such an awesome scene.
I wasn't really expecting a campaign when I heard of the game. More because I've been playing the civ games for a while and I'm simply used to the randomly generated maps.
Multiplayer Lan, but then again thats more because I just upgraded to the Beta. And since my friend with a better connection couldn't figure out how to set up ports we decided to do Lan.
Also Downloading the optional beta may fix this as well. To get the beta just go to impulse (if you have it if not you need to dl it) click the Stardock logo in the upper left corner and click the enable pre-release version button. This will enable you to activate the beta.
So your comparing troops walking on foot to space ships jumping between planets. Though I will say that I would have loved for at least one military upgrade to make ships move faster overall for all races. Anyway I would agree to the ability to at least set up map positions with custom maps at the minimum plus the autoload for maps.
I'm actually in a Lan game with the OP. And I while I don't think (in retrospect at the start I thought I was lagging in the research screen) that my own computer does lag. But I notice a significant slow down on my own screen when he enters the research screen. I'll post my specs soon but needless to say I'm on a Toshiba laptop so there are no new drivers for my card.
He who defends everything loses everything. Thats pretty much how I play, I might build a hanger or two on a planet that is in a danger zone but I prefer to use fleets as protection. Defense platforms I might make if I didn't have the money to tech up to hangers at the time but thats the only time that I can think of.
