I can't get Sins of a Solar Empire to run. I have plenty of computer power and I run on Windows 7 64bit. I can install the game but after installing it just won't run; the screen goes blank. Some one suggested it was a firewall problem but how can that be the case when I can update the game through Impulse but still it won't run! :(

I would just like some one to explain to me why I should get Sins of a Solar Empire: Trinity when, despite having ample specs and Windows 7, I never got Sins of a Solar Empire to work; never! Is this game more Windows 7 friendly, then? Curiously, I get Impulse emails all the time even though with Windows 7 I can't get Sins of a Solar Empire, a "Games for Windows", as displayed on the box, to work. Does anyone else detect a contradiction here? I have Intel Core I.7 CPU so no o
Yes, I am left and I can't even get started. I was told on this Forum I couldn't start this game probably because of my Doc Nortons anti-viral package but I just don't believe that. Accept that I have oodles of spec capacity but what I do have is Windows 7 64 bit and I suspect that is the problem for this game. Have any of the later patches or Mods come out which solve this problem? Does Trinity work on Windows 7? Live long and prosper.

Many t hanks for your detailed reply, Harpo. I may get a mate of mind round at some point who is more IT-savvy than I am who can consider and implement your instructions with more confidence than I could. Live long and prosper.
My firewall is Symantec. I don't get asked whether I want to allow a gate opened into or from the Internet. Impulse had no problems with the Symantic firewall, as I have observed. It pops up to to pass on new advertisements on booting. I have an Intel quad processor, 2.8 MHZ. 6 Gig memory. Windows 7 OS. How do I go to Windowed mode? Does it interfere with my Symantec firewall?
Thanks for showing some interest, Harpo. The game installs with no error messages and then invites me to launch. What I then get is a "cursor" and a black screen. :( I wait several minutes and nothing happens. I have tried to so many times to install/uninstall/reinstall this game and I used to get a minidump but not recently it seems so I don't think I can send you one. I might try looking for one after I get off this thread, though. Of possible significance. Obvi
I can't get the game even to install properly. It just says it has installed then when I try to launch goes to "black-screen of death". It doesn't even ask for the serial number of my game, which StarDocks is usually hot on. I have more than adequate specs and use Windows 7.
I can't even install the game. I don't even get to the point where it asks for my serial number. I have more than adequate specs and my OS is Windows 7.
The same here for me. I get a minidump just trying to install the game! It doesn't get as far as even asking me for my serial number, which StarDocks is usually pretty hot on, so I think that is significant but I don't know why. My rig has more than adequate specs and I am using Windows 7.
I get a minidump when I just try to install the game. My rig has more than adequate specs. I have Windows 7 OS. Is there a support address to which one can send one's minidump so they can analyse the problem?
OK, Harpo, so can you please tell me step by step what I should do without endangering my FIREWALL protection.
What I will add though, Harpo, is that your diagnosis may be correct insofar as the installation never asks me for the game serial number and I know how hot Stardock are on serial numbers. But if it is a question of accessing the Sins website, what is the problem? Most other games, including earlier Gal Civ games, I have installed automatically access the appropriate website! Why should I have to manually change the firewall? :(
I have no idea what you are talking about, Harpo; "try altering the user.settings to windowed mode". I don't want to try screwing around with the protection settings on my Firewall. And why should I even have to? I have just reinstalled to no avail. :( I will never, ever trust STARDOCK again!!! I bought this game which had this big label on the box saying "Games for
I have uninstalled and reinstalled to no avail. It just won't run; No error msg but it won't run. I can see a cursor but no music or anything else, except the "black scrfeen of death". When I go to Task manager to clear things out, I see this minidump listed, which may be significant in the light of some of the previous threads. I am both disappointed and surprised. :( Two previous Stardock Gal Civ games I have installed and played with no problems and <span style="text-d
ATI Radeon 5700 series. Intel core I7 Quad: 2.8. As far as I know I have the latest drivers. No error msgs. It is not running at all when I try to run it. Live long and prosper.
Harpo, Windows 64 bits. 4 Gigs of memory. Seven Home premium. Do you think you can advise me? Live long and prosper.
I should have viewed this thread before I bought Sins. Yes, I have Sins and it won't play in Windows Seven, 64 bit. I am putting my tuppence ha'penny worth in here so that when there is a solution I shall learn of it. Stardock are normally more proactive than this. More than a bit disappointed. :( Live long and prosper (appropriate because I only bought the Sins for the ST mod).
I have Windows 7 and the game won't run at all! It does give me a minidump file. Any suggestions, please?
