Already pre-ordered as well. Didn't use the 20% coupon so far, i received it after i bought everything. So i don't think i can make use of it since it expires on the 30.Sep 2008. Unless they can put up the other 2 mini-expansions for pre-order :p
Himmelweiss
Well i don't really know what to say, or how to say it. But Frogboy is the first dev i have seen in the public who is actually being realistic. He just simply says: "if you are not happy, don't buy anything from us again or just call me for a refund." I like what i read here. I will buy nearly everything. Stardock can have my cash and i just can't wait for GalCivII stuff, Demigod, Sins upcoming features/patches/expansions/mini-expansions, Not-MoM
How can euros even complain about dollar prices... I'm from germany and i like to buy US products (shipping costs are actually cheap too), digital downloads are even better.
Ironclad has two additional micro-expansions in development as well. One of which adds new diplomacy features to the game and another that will add new technologies and ships.
Sounds like a good plan, instead of selling 1 expansion pack for 29.99$ you develop 3 mini-expansion packs for 9.95$ each. Players can just buy the features they really want. I like all three, so i will just buy everything anyway :p
Lots of nifty jobs out there nowadays, and i live on the ... of the world.
Well, normally i would say a quadcore isn't the right choice for most of the games still, but since you do have the Q9450 CPU you are actually in a good shape. I have a similiar Setup but with a core2duo E8600 (3.33 Ghz), 4 GB DDR3 1600Mhz and Geforce 9800 GX2, bought GX2 because it runs faster on 1280x1024 resolution than the 280 which has the lead in the higher resolution 1600xsomething. I actually plan to trible SLI 280 one day though. However, i notice the same issues
Get all current windows updates, because the windows installer has been updated several times in the past. So yeah, i believe your windows installer is outdated. If not then copy the DVD content to the harddrive and try to install it from there.
A flak turret for planet defense would be great too, the normal defense buildings for the orbit are super useless as soon someone comes with a horde of strike-craft bombers.
1 thing which could also be fixed with the AI is its tendensy to retreat quickly when they become under attack because nearly every time i attack the enemy AI's planet with 100 ships and they have 100 ships, they run nearly instantly from an even fight Also when the AI attacks without scouting the enemy planet, phase jumps in and retreats almost instantl
Yeah that's really annoying, and if you come to help an AI ally, he flees anyways, even if you outnumber the o
The carriers are uber, i rather build 2 or 3 carriers instead of 1 capital-ship. I have to agree with the entire carrier, strike-craft and flak problem and i hope they can balance it somehow soon.
The thing thats annoying me at the moment is that all the missions are against my 2 allies, and each ally wants me to trash the other one.
That happened in every game i played so far, and it's getting on my nervs. The AI behaviour, the diplomacy, the missions, all this needs some more development. Some espionage would be awesome too. Heck i can't even offer missions, i was quite surprised about this. The AI in general acts very dumb as well, ev
Now that did help, thanks. I just tested it and could come up with a much better, longer trade lane and income increased drastically.
So i tested arround a little bit more with the info boxes and text messages. It seems to drop the FPS only if: - there is a special ressource or artifact on the planet (all other planets and asteroids without an special ressource/artifact don't cause an FPS drop with the info box). - there is/was a huge amount of ships in an enemy controlled planet/asteriod (info box) - if i offer any trait to an opponent or ally (actually just any text message)
I got an install/download error as well with Impulse (just a few days ago). So i had to use stardock central to install Sins, then i used Impulse to update the game.
This was actually the thread i was looking for, so i will just copy/paste it, sorry for double-reply then. But it fits in here well. I can confirm this perfomance issue. Windows Vista 32bit Athlon 5200+ 4 GB ram DDR2-800 Geforce 9800 GX2 SATA II Harddrive with 16mb Buffer Sins only starts to drop FPS on a huge map if some text shows up of the opponents or allys. It also drops the FPS as soon the info box of any object pops up (planet or ships). Res

It also drops the FPS as soon the info box of any object pops up (planet or ships). Restarting didn't help. So the game would run awesome smooth on this machine, even on a huge map with multiple big fleets in one gravity well, but there seems to be a problem with the tex
Apples and oranges...
Well, both are round...
And why stops my trade lane on both ends ? I have much more planets with trade ports, it should expand atleast on one end.
Well, in this game i had zero dead asteroids and the trade lanes are broken anyway (they don't expand) ? Or is there some secret mechanic behind the whole thing i didn't understand ? (Small Map: 14 Planets) Here is a screenshot, note i have build a Trade Port just everywhere.
My wishlist for SoaSE 2 ,updated graphics (include 2 graphics settings,1 for extreme quality and 1 for low end PCs) and I want the combat to be more dynamic, small ships attempting to dodge heavy weapons etc.Well to get a better understand of what I would realy want:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BhZQEvg1V0Y&feature=related
Too bad, Nexus 2 was canceled long ago, what a shame. I have no idea if the engine of Sins could handle all this :p
- Direct control of a capital ship or just any ship, with a cockpit view :p Coulb be fun to fight on your own in a big fleet battle, but this feature isn't really that important, imo.
Ha, Vasari is the only empire i have never played, i guess i should change that.
Salvaging in general would be a great idea, if you salvage a wreck you get metal or crystals. Just an idea.
So, where are the Titan Ships ? :)
You can't compare Homeworld and SoaSE. They have very different level of scale and gameplay. Homeworld is to SoaSE as Company of Heroes is to Supreme Commander.
Well, atleast it's better to use Homeworld instead of an MMO aka EvE. Or better yet, just compare it with nothing since SoaSE is the first with such an mix of genres.
