Yeah, in DotA there is WAY too many freaking stuns and imba stuns.
In it's own way it is balanced. It just takes skill to learn how to avoid it. Also being there only one of each character makes it less ridiculous.
If only one Demigod will have an AoE stun or something similar (like: enemy units unable to attack for x seconds), it would be just imba. So you could argue then: don´t create a demigod with AoE stun. But in the unique game mode, it would be nice to have something like that
Great example! Stun locks would be so imba if you could pick the same hero. If you've played DotA, imagine 5 rooftrellens on a team using their

Yea when I played DotA a ton, we would want to play my friends without going on B.net, so we'd hamachi local games and they would be what 5 hours away? I didn't have lan cable that long. [e digicons][/e] Does anyone have a full version of hamachi so they can create a channel with many of us in it?

My references were to show that when given a choice people will pick the most exploitable possibilities. Having multiples of a character only leads to abuse of certain characters. The game would have to be impossibly balanced for that not to happen. Again, key word impossibly. thank you, cos(Θ)
And have you been to a DotA tournament? or played TDA. Rarely is AP used. I belive they use a form of draft most of the time?
Yes single or random draft. It adds that random factor that evens the playing field. On that point, I've played all pick games. It sucks if you play a team that knows what they are doing.
When did this turn into a "take one for the team" speech? Why are we introducing new elements into this discussion. My point is that I should be able to choose my demigod on my terms. Ok, fine, our team needs a tank. Can I at least choose WHICH tank I want to be? Oops, nope I can't someone else got to him first...
It's not about taking one for the team. It is about sucking it up and not
How can you have an even playing field when the host gets X choices of demigods, the second player gets X-1 and the nth player get X-n? You can't call that an even playing field. I return to my main point: ranked play is to play your best with your best demigod, not your second best because someone happened to like the same design/have the same play style as you. Ranked isn't for each game feel different,
.....Right. You're definition of competition>all. What's next? Making mandatory for players to play 3 games a day to maintain their ranking? You want to be competitive right? Then you need to practice regularly!!
We are talking about competitive play here. In regular matches they can have as many messed up gametypes as they want. It doesn't need to be fair if you are ju
Moreover, I don't want to be forced to play a hero I don't like because all the others are taken. In the same way, if there's only one hero I like I want to be able to take it whatever the other players do.
If you play DotA you'll notice one thing when it comes to competitive matches. It almost is never -AP(anyone can choose any hero). Why? It's a balance issue. Certain teams will have a distinct advantage. The dev's here will

I agree with Zyprezz, a category for each character so that way the devs don't have to sift through all the reports to find another on rook. Also it will be easier to see if the bug report was already listed for your character on that issue. I'm sure it won't be preferred if there are 30 reports of rook unable to hit ____ character. So the easier it is to see if the bug was reported, the less redundancy there will be. Also date is very important of when the occurrence happens. Imag

Will we be able to pre-order the game and join Beta once the Beta is already started, or will it be an invitation only for those who already pre-ordered before it started? Thank you, cos( Ө ) <link rel="File-List" href="file:///C:%5CDOCUME%7E1%5CRCHELM%7E1%5CLOCALS%7E1%

The DotA community is the way it is because of the nature of the game. The game has a huge learning curve. It is true the game is playable with little knowledge, but that is not really how the game is meant to be played. It is created to be competitive. You could just scan a DotA forum to see it's depth in just the number of techniques. Each person who is any good has spent immense amounts of time invested in playing these games. Many players live, sleep, and eat DotA. It is a sport in
