thanks so much i think i get it. one more question: if i have more than one trade dock then can i have one for extraction and one for trading or do they all switch?

so does this mean that it automatically increases income? how can i tell? when i highlight to see the "refinery quota" it says 0/3. do i have to have all my trade ports set to refinery in a system? you two have both helped, but i'm still slightly confused.

hi i'm new, i have been playing as the advent. whenever i attempt to convert a trade post into a refinery it disables the actions of the trade post and disables all ships directly correlated with it. when i switch it back it continues to function properly as a trade post. can you help me out here?
