Having been a gamer for many years, I don't have much of an issue with using the Impulse download manager - it's less intrusive than Steam. Kryo, thanks for your response and for letting me know that you do read the posts. Since you've now read this thread you can see that there is a serious outstanding issue for a number of us with very powerful machines, where the game inexplicably slows, and not just by a small amount - my earlier post described the serious nature: " At its worst, I get 5-10 seconds of smooth play, then everything but the mouse cursor and music stops for anything between 30s and 2 minutes. I also like the Advent cannon. With the correct research, if you keep a steady stream of fire against an enemy planet you can cause the population to rebel (loyalty drops to 0) and the enemy loses the planet. With a strong enough culture and good use of Advent cannons, you can even win the game without sending your ships outside your own territory. Of course, that's not quite as much fun as nuking the universe, but it does bring some variety! [e digicons]:grin:[/e]

Do any admins / moderators read these posts? It's been 2 months and there hasn't been a single response to this issue from anyone in Stardock. The game is now back in its box, and I doubt if I will play it again. First time I've bought one of your games Stardock, and I'm not impressed with either the playability or your support...

Fireseal, I also have a Q9450 with 4Gb DDR3, but running on a 790i m'board with twin 9800 GTX on Vista 32 (so less available of the 4Gb.) All drivers are up to date and like you, Crysis, Grid, Supreme Commander, etc run smoothly at max settings - as you'd expect after spending this much on a PC!
