Well, tried it again, this time I had an allianse with one player and it was much easier. I kept myself low with a Kortul and an Evacuator at lvl 10 which really kicked ass with the drain planet ability. I won the map with my allianse, but just for kicks I took on my former friend. This is just unreal, I had a fleet of 4 capital ships, 60 enforcers, 30 LRM frigates, and 120 bomber squads and 20 fighter squads. He managed to defeat me with only 2 capital ships and 40 bomber squads, ser

Yes, indeed, how can I be beaten by a normal AI player?! I visit this board very often, though I don't play the game that often. Today, I started a 4 player, 16 planet map, playing as Vasari. The first time, I created a TON of strike craft carriers since I usually send the competition to hell with 80-100 bomber squats (though this was easy level, TEC race). I was wrong, I planned on crushing a player with around 30-35 bomber squats, a few sqirmishers and the 2 capital ships; t
We really need a replay's section on these boards, I've for too long wanted to see how a player beats three other unfair AI's...
3vs7 is indeed very hard. I've only got 2 enemies left to destroy at my game. The hardest part is that if you do not ally with somebody else, you'll be having a hard time. I experienced this in the beginning, when their larger fleets threatened mine, but luckely I had enough defenses to scare them off. I always hide in the background, and when two AI's take on each other, I use the opportunity to go into their system, and take my share of the cake. When my ally's weak, I declare war a
As far as I know, the Entrenchment is an expansion pack and is bought seperately from SOASE. I do not know whether SOASE and Entrenchment come into one box yet. Did you purchase Entrenchment? Maybe you are trying to install something you haven't paid for?
Why a 1024X600 display? 1024X768 is the minimum available, although you can tick the "window mode" button which may allow you to size it yourself...
It's not likely so much a matter of effects, even though the integrated video is going to be a bit weak. More likely it's just the amount of "stuff" in memory at once. The devs have made a lot of improvements to the game's memory management in Entrenchment so that the late game is now much smoother on any machine.
So the Entrenchment install makes the game run smoother even with the new objects? That would be grea
This is not really a guide to optimizing the game, but more of a question. I've got a 1.53 Ghz Dual-core computer with 1Gb of RAM and 128 mb RAM ATI 1150 Express video card. Now, when playing the game on a small maps (1v1 maps) my computer runs this game without ANY lag on highest settings. However, when playing a map with 10 players and over 50 planets, this game really is giving my computer a hard time. The interesting thing however, is that setting all effects to low instead of hig
I'm willing to bet your system will run the game just fine. Most systems will lag with a very large fleet when zooming in onto them, even with 256 RAM graphics cards. I have a Dell Vostro 1000 with 1Gb of RAM and 128 mb of graphics. Yes, the card is also integrated. SINS works fine on my system, with the settings being on high, and ship details on "highest". Game runs without any lag, but once the map gets big (over 60 planets) or I zoom in on a very large fleet
Had a go with the Mod yesterday. I picked the rogue race and I really liked the pirate ships. However, there weren't any ships with the "Colonize" feature available, leaving me only with my home planet. The descriptions of some ships could be better, and most of them are pretty much the same, even though it say "basic, average, advanced" and whatnot. Will give the other races a go later today :)
Well it could happen that it works, because I'm able to pick 2-3 races more than at first... Or is this part of the "not-working"?
I have placed the package succesully now. I just had to go into SINS and let the map show in the directory :) On that; how do I know it's working succesully? Are all ships different? The frigates seem to be the same, but I noticed some smaller planets circeling around my home planet...
I do not remember which version I'm running. I remember vaguely updating to 1.05, but I'm not sure. I extracted all of the files to their corresponding directories in c:/Program Files/Stardock Games/ What was in the mesh file in the zip package, I extracted to the mesh directory in the Stardock Games files and so on... *UPDATE* Did another re-install after removing all files from the C: disk. The game works again and I've patched it to V1.05. However, I cannot f
Hello everybody, I'm having serious issues with this modification package. Yesterday I downloaded the package and the 7zip.exe file as well. After I was finished with the 3.d file, I extracted all of the files into its directories. Whenever the computer asked if I wanted to replace the original files with the files into the package, I said "Yes to all" thinking that otherwise the package would not work. However, when extract
Save games don't work across versions. Also, the regular patches already go to 1.05.
Ok, thanks. Guess I'll have to start over again then :)
Today I patched my game to v1.03, and when I tried to continue my game, I got a messagw that I could not load my game. The save still shows up in the list, but I cannot load it, why is this? Thanks,
