Since downloading the latest patch I found that I could select NO PIRATE ATTACKS. Now I really enjoy the game. It is almost overwhelming in it's depth. Fights between ships is kind of bland. That is strange. I had a problem some what like that. You didn't say if your friend uses XP or Vista. Anyway, the game played fine on my Vista until I downloaded bonus files from Stardock. After adding the bonus files I started the program and the screen went black and that was it. I had to push Ctl,Alt,Delete to get back to Windows. This game would really be a lot more fun if you didn't have to constantly bid against your opponents to make the Pirates attact them instead of you. If you don't bid then your spending your cash, metal and crystals on ships that the Pirates destroy and if you do bid your still spending much cash. It's a stupid way to make you spend your assets to delay the game and make it longer. The pirates will form for another attact even before you have destroyed the first wave. Soooo d
