excellent work, those last two chapters. some of the dialogue needs a bit of work, but it was very good
eoncommander
hey, i'm a seventeen year-old teenager, whose only knowledge of the military comes from tom clancy and wikipedia, and i could've come up with the same structure as the devs did! for what they did, they really only had to use some common knowledge, no research
i'm still here, just been busy with schoolwork and college apps (fun!). i'll read your new part sometime today perhaps when diplomacy comes out, there will be a rebirth
i guess i missed a lot. skipped page 9. but, the best way to win an argument remains AD HOMINEM ATTACKS! all people who think the N stands for Navy are stupid and should go away! i still vote for network, if you didnt get that already
i think we all forgot the most important one. it is, after all, Trader Emergency Coalition . I'm pretty sure nation and coalition are mutually exclusive, especially in this case
sounds cool
of course, most people will say supcom here, as it is a forum for a fellow rts. but I BELIEVE IN MASTER CHIEF
Trader Defence Network. Navy just doesn't have the same level of flow.
exactly what i said!
I did mention earlier in the thread that you could set it up to have more then one GW so that you could utilize regrouping.
ok, but your last quote made it seem like you were against it. i also suggested it earlier
I dont think anything needs to be added or subtracted from ingame to Custom, I think it should be more of a proving ground where things are tested and improved on. Technically retreat wouldnt be an addon as its already an option in the Fleet menu. Just instead of it retreating to a safe GW itll retreat out of the map entirely so that you can end the match.
theres a difference between a tactical retreat and a strategic wit
if you have not selected anything, (you can effect this by clicking in the middle of space) then some numbers will appear to the left of your avatar. these are your rankings in economy, military and empire (i think). mouse over them to see a (slightly) more detailed list. but these are only for yourself. presumably the ai is capable of accessing this for all factions, something you can only do in the post-exit data screen
awesome story. aren't the killer nonhuman ghost-like things in Philip Pullman's Subtle Knife and Amber Spyglass called Spectors?
yes, but they don't kill. they just eat your soul (in the form of a daemon) where are you orodum???? i miss you [e digicons]:'([/e]
a resounding response, if i say so myself. i would call this a failed experiment
Think of a third-world country city to a first-world country city. You can tell that one of them is years ahead of the other. sorta the same thing happening here.
sorry, i have to disagree. humans being what we are, i have to think that our natural arrogance would lead us to believe that we were light-years ahead of them, because they werent in space yet. and as to the diplomatic mission, those are usually conducted with much fanfare. a single protev isnt showin
god, it feels like harpo is at his computer, staring at this thread all day, waiting for someone to post so that he can post again and make sure he is winning still. btw, i win
i like the idea of artillery cruisers, though i like psychoseraph's idea of making it the siege frigate. give them more health/shields, and perhaps create a special armor type that bombers do 125% damage to? might work. it would certainly make siege frigates useful again as more than a tiny distraction i also like the tactical frigate idea. it shouldnt take up fleet supply, but instead it could take up 7 tactical spots. that would give you an upper limit of 5 per gravwell (6 if you do
so, i really liked the revised chapter. a few things, though. one, why are they only sending a colony ship to a hostile world? shouldnt it be escorted? part of a fleet? especially if the planet they are going to is so important. a fleet, led by an admiral would be much more likely. and the admiral would make first contact, of course. though this is 1000 years ago, they probably did not have protevs. other than that, it was very good
Displayed across the planet's surface were various large metallic blobs. From this height, these were massive cities the size of countries. Whoever built these cities were years ahead of the Trade Order.
why does it make them years ahead? they havent even discovered phase space, as far as he knows edit: in case you didnt realize, that was from the revised chapter 2 part 2
i do believe he meant 1 on 9, not ffa
Sins of a Solar Empire: Requim
hope you meant requiem SoaSE 2: The Second War SoaSE 2: Expanding Horizons Sins of the Fourth Race SoaSE 2: To the Stars Sins of a Galactic Republic (get it? the TEC becomes a republic... see? haha? maybe? no)
clicking on it doesnt do anything. it should be automatic. when you send a fleet from one planet to another, if they both have stabilizers then it will only be one jump, no matter how many lanes actually separate them
i prefer to think that TEC has the only normal (by our standards) military structure. for the vasari, well, allegiance said it best. teh advent are... strange, to say the least
EonCommander: It's called the Star Wars project, AKA missile defense. But, to answer a variation of my own question: the U.S. would win. the USSR had a formidable Navy, yes. However, their main branch of Armed Forces was dedicated to Ground Battles. Given this, we could effectively Embargo the country to death, epecially if our Combined forces joined up with Western Europe. If other alliances besedes NATO and the Warsaw pact got involved, that's totally different.
star
