i'm pretty sure the other ships have names, they just arent shown. otherwise, how would the commanders identify the individual ships? and the devs were just lazy (or decided that the opportunity cost was too high) and declined to make names for hundreds of frigates and cruisers
NATO would win (assuming both sides were rational enough not to launch nukes. then everyone loses). though in 1989 the Cold War was basically over. the USSR was collapsing by then. thats actually a good point. i amend my answer: the world would end in nuclear holocaust because the USSR would be pushed into desparate actions (read: launching nukes). what if NATO and the USSR went to war in 1982, assuming both sides were rational enough to not launch? i'm pretty sure there isnt a mention of ground troops for the TEC at all, which i think you were getting at, allegiance. no need to be an ass about it though. and just because it uses naval terms doesnt mean it is called a navy. think of Halo. UNSC is United Nations Space Command. no navy there. unless i suddenly lost the ability to read.

i swear, i think i said the same thing, kitkun and CI. but no matter. this is like arguing about god. we have no evidence. a lack of evidence more supports the negative rather than the positive. so it is more likely that the other branches dont exist. also, there was the example of the japanese in wwii, whose chips were called IJN... referring to the whole navy, not the individual ship. now why not just jump that up one level, and have it refer to the entire military?

i had a friend who was going to write a similar story a few years back, but he scrapped it. inspired me to write, however. in three years, i have parts of six chapters written, and about 25 pages written (12000 words). testament to my work ethic, i guess. and it is scifi

temporary might work, i guess. i still like trader defense network. if SINs were real, it wouldnt bbe SINs. very little of it follows any real physics, but thats for a different thread
did anyone else's forum page just go all screwy? i dont even know who made the last post. and its just this forum, i checked a bunch of others but if the SINs universe was real, the navies would be quite a bit larger too. almost unfathomably huge. in fact, most of a planet's defenses would be based in space. the space navy would be the most important branch of the military, because ti alone could connect the various planets and it alone could easily wipe out the other branches
