Great job Stardock! I originally bought SINS at Wal-Mart. Then I beta-tested Entrenchment via Impulse and got the upgrade that way. Now I am enjoying Diplomacy 1.2. I am impressed with how you moved all the ideas/feedback on the Beta of Entrenchment into a final version, and I am impressed with the 1.2 version of Diplomacy (the pirates were too hard before...). All I have to say is WOW, great game! At the risk of getting sniped by a Ghost... I think it's better than StarCraft. I keep comi

Pirates were so much of a problem I never really played Diplomacy until the update, but I have been enjoying it now that 1.2 came out. I think they are gettng more ships based on how much money that particular base takes in? I am playing Huge Multistar Random map and the "lesser" stars had easier-to-take-over pirate bases. This morning I managed to take out a big one by throwing a few walls of ships in there and then setting up a series of planets and starbases (I am playing TEC this time) to

Dear Stardock Programmers, I bought Sins, played it, and bought the Entrenchment expansion. I playtested the Entrenchment expansion in Beta, made my comments on these forums, and waited. I wondered how you would reconcile the mine problem, the Vasarii advantages, etc. I have been playing the Entrenchment release for the past week and I must say: Bravo! I can't think of even a suggestion, much less a complaint. I've played all three races now, to see how they work. I'm not just

Build Extractors Build Capital Ship port (and one capital ship and maybe some lt frigates) Colonize an asteroid or two. Build 1 Civ and 1 Military research center Upgrade logistics +1 capital ship (x2) Upgrade fleet size and build two more capitals. I find that rushing the enemy with 3 capitals in the begining is extremely sucessful.

I had that problem too. I wanted to skip the sun and jump to another planet, and I thought I'd be smart and build a phase stabalizer. No such luck. It may have started working later, but of course I didn't need it then.

I found a cool strategy: while playing Advent (although you can do it with anyone) I built a starbase in a phase storm. Normal ships can't launch fighters or bombers in a phase storm, so I put it way off to the side with max armor and 10 bombers. It made a nice little caltrop to any AI that tried to go that way.

I think the home base, at least, should have a few capital ships protecting it. It's too easy to wipe out as it stands, with the ability to build starbases and all.

I can't find any other posts on this, so I'll start my own. I name most planets after London Underground stations. Once I System Jump to a new star system, I'll switch to Paris metro stations.
I was thinking of getting nexus but I heard from multiple places that it crashes a lot. Since it is no longer being patched what kind of state is the game in now?
You learn where the crashes are and you avoid them. In short, the crashes are caused by loading an in mission saved game. So as long as you play the mission well from the begining, the crashes don't occur.
For squadrons, I'd like to see at least a couple added to the basic Starbase before upgrades, perhaps two for TEC and Vasari and two more (four total) for Advent, and increase the number of squadrons added per upgrade to three. The Advent retain their numerical superiorty, but the total number is greater for all factions. I'd also like to see flak cannons (and the equivalent for all factions) added to Starbases, probably through their defensive upgrade tree. But if

I have now played large campaigns in each race. After playing the Vasari, and then playing Advent and TEC, my first reaction was that of many here on the forum: Why don't TEC and Advent starbases move? When I played Advent I tried to utilize the Advent culture abilies of the Starbases to maximize my culture. I was disapointed that, even though I had several starbases with Evangilization Nodes maxed out, and they virtually sourounded the enemy planet, the enemy planet did not e

Wow, I just played a TEC game and I wondered about that but didn't test it... I pact my fleet with Dunov's too, because they are the only ones who can heal. I was curious, if I had four Dunov's and I activated Flux Field on all of them, would the effects be cumulative. But there were no effects.

gawd, who posted this... DeltaLeader... I must vote No to all your suggestions. Reading them makes me think how wacked out and messed up this game could get if we, the beta-testers, told the game designers how to design their game. After reading all this trash, I take back all my whining about mines. The way the game is now is a LOT more balanced than having 4+ phase-blocking, phase-jumping starbases all drop in uninvited.
Defense busters The Ogrov and the Starfish (well, we have the space whale, might as well have another marine nickname!) are interesting ships, but their usefulness is greatly diminished by the fact that their damage is strictly done by abilities and right now you have to target each and every ship. You really need to be able to select all of them, click the ability, select the target and have all of the selected ships use the ability. Otherwise they will

I think Sins is the best space colonization game ever... Better than Trade Wars on a BBS... Better than Spaceward Ho... and everything since. I like the sound the Advent Media Hub makes. Yup. That's definately the best part of the game. [e digicons][/e]

I agree with Sole Soul.. A method of mine cleanup needs to be implemented. Here's an Idea (stolen from Starcraft): make autocannons be mine detectors as well.

77 Replies 186,312 Views

Thanks Sole Soul I have just completed implosion as a Advent and it wasn't too bad. Still, some mine-ridden planets, but Advent mines aren't as fast as Vasari mines. For some reason my "random" opponents consisted of 6 Advent, 2 Vasari, 0 TEC. The Vasarri I wiped out early. I think the biggest unbalanced gameplay issue at this point is that "militaristic" AI's build mines, and trader AI's get wiped out early. Just a preliminary observation. Now I'm going to try playing TEC aga

I guess I'm playing the beta then, version 0.91.002 on a 64 bit version of Vista. We should have a new channel for entrenchment. Here are some observations: Vasari are way overpowered with movable starbases, and (primarily) endless mine deployment. I played Hyperions Gates as a Vasari and by the time I had conquored my section of the galaxy, only Vasari factions were still alive. I had to jump in to planet Porta with all ships in Hold Position mode, and send a backup fleet of

That's good to know. Thanks. I was thinking "scuttling" applied only to ships when I read the keyboard commands, but it turns out Alt+H applies to buildings as well.

Reply to Homeworld 2 in PC Gaming

I liked Homeworld Cataclysm a lot better than Homeworld 2. It was fun developing a lowly Kith from a mining faction to a War faction.

Is there a way to remove a structure to free up logistic/tactical slots? It would be nice to delete a civic/military center later in the game and replace it with a trade port or refinery.
