I think the new name is actually fine. I'm like most people...it's bleh. It's neither exciting nor necessarily disappointing either. I like that it's more consumer friendly sounding. One point I don't see a lot of people mentioning is laptops. Apple's inability to ship a true PowerBook replacement based on the G5 seems to be huge too. Apple knows that laptops are where the higher profit margins are is a growth market unlike the desktop market. The Mac Mini (due to it's low pricing) is not a product that will make Apple any money. If anything, it's just a product to help them sell more iPods which have a much higher profit margin. T

Somewhat unrelated but I don't feel like starting a new post simply for this but Konfabulator 2.01 was released today and it's noticeably less memory than before. 3 widgets + the program now = ~25MB. Previously, it was ~36MB or so. So, that's a definite improvement. Yay.

Yeah, he wasn't evangelizing one over the other. Plus, Brad has mentioned admiration at AveDesk in the past. It was informative and pointed out the features and positives of each program. If you're interested in it yourself then you can go check it out. It would have been a totally different article if he had pointed out negatives (or "deltas") of the program compared to DX...but he didn't. The reason why it's worth it is because these company sell these useless products for like $50-100/bottle. The distributors cost for these miracle cures is something like $3-5/bottle. So, they tell spammers that they'll give them $25-50 per referral. So, if these spammers send out 100,000 e-mail and like 1,000 (or 1%) responds, that dude has made $25,000-50,000 for just sitting at their computer and clicking.
If one is upgrading from 9.2.2 to 10.3 then the upgrade price seems justified since you're getting an entirely new operating system with a ton of new features. However, Apple should charge a nominal fee for people who already have OSX. From what I understand about, 10.3 fixes some of the shortcomings of 10.2 while introducing a handful of new features.
