My guess is his first ability was missile batteries? Those definitely set the Sova above most of the other caps in terms of damage dealing, and thats the only way he couldve killed one of your caps despite alternating heals. Sounds to me like you didn't use the full range of your abilities however. Perhaps a better idea would've been to choose scramble bombers as your first skill, your fighters woulve kept his down, and you would be dealing a great deal more damage than without them. Also, if

I don't see the point of a super weapon if its isnt super. Nor do I see the point of having a toggle for them if they arent powerful. Kosturas are in the realm I think a superweapon should definitely be. It should be able to torch a fleet given enough of them. The two things the Kostura are weak against are Starbases and enemies who are Attacking. You cannot use the Kostura defensively, and that is its biggest weakness (not to mention fleets in neutral wells are untargettable). I recently pla
Star player is pretty good, I havent played with him enough to say hes that kind of good. I can say that Raging Amish and Tyr are on that level, followed closely by most of the other DT guys and a couple of the powerhouse BIA players like Greyfox, Mindseye, Reborn(m.i.a?). I havent played anyone who is on JJs level that hasnt been gobbled up by a clan, but there a couple guys who arent clanners that can tangle with the guys mentioned above. There a a couple of different player skill track lis
Not a fan of wormholes Dirty? Some of those donut systems may benefit from an easier way to get from one end to the other without having to go through a ridiculous amount of systems.
Cap carriers are IMO now overpowered. Spamming one type of cap should not be a viable plan of action but now it is practically required.
I've found that the buff to Carrier caps has actually helped much much more than its hurt. yes they are strong now, OP? No I don't think so. The carrier caps being stronger and now more popular has brought more option in which cap to start with. If you recall last patch the game was dominated by Eggs, Motherships and Marzas. Predictab
There is a research that lets you see planets with your culture. and the resource and credit drop from losing culture could tip the scales in for favor in a battle of attrition.
Yes there is a research that allows you to see planets under your culture. But there is also a Cap ship ability called Clairvoyance that does just that and is much much less costly to acquire. The loss of credits due to culture spread is negligible since it has no major effect on allegiance, and
Might be good if it wasn't considered a super weapon. Tier 8. Plus the effect does not stack as far as i know. So would you rather be able to 1. Destroy an enemy fleet anywhere anytime, or be able to jump anywhere anytime, 2. Destroy any enemy planet or 3. Give your fleet a 25% damage buff in 1 system. DE just doesn't hold the kind of power the other superweapons have and is not worth the cost to get it. I agree with Grey in that, if it did maybe a 5-10% hit to allegiance, you could use them
Callen, yes it does broadcast remotely, but consider its usefulness when compared to the other superweapons, 5 kosturas can obliterate most fleets, and can allow you to jump a fleet or starbase anywhere, 2 novas can take out a hw, 1 for any upgraded planet. So where does that leave the DE? You can spread a bit of culture remotely, which will eventually be overcome if the enemy has culture centers. Big f-ing woop. Whne compared to travel , fleet destruction and planet destruction, it really re
I leaning towards the bug fix being the problem. In this patch the devs thoroughly tested things against them and improved other units against them, as they didn't feel the problem was with Illums. Remember all the things they did that affected lrms (decreased dmg to lfs, buffed carrier caps, buffed HCs etc),a nd remember that a lot of lums power is their ease of use (sidebeams being the pinnacle of that). Advent is certainly the powerhouse of this patch, but I think that will be addres
Hey sparda, as far as the clans go, they used to be pretty organized and would all play together against other people or other clans, but these days on MP the clans are somewhat defunct. Those with clan tags still play with them on (some choose not to), and most of the time they'll play in games on separate teams (to make the matches fair). In pick-up games (2 captains choose teams) the two best players are chosen as captains (so theyre not on the same team) and then they choose their team ma
Agent, I think its you who misunderstand the entire point of forums. The developers created the forums so people can discuss strategies, have questions answered, notify them of bugs, etc. They didn't created it so you could vent your frustrations about people you come across online(thats why your "Assholes" post was locked), and "warn" people to stay away from a part of the game they spent a great deal of time adjusting and tweaking to make user friendly. "Is flak burst an
So then tell me, whats the point of all this? Why continue to put down a community that you're a part of? If you hate it so much, why not just wash your hands and be done with it? I just can't wrap my head around why you sit here acting like you despise the entire MP experience, yet continue to participate in it. You say that you "don;t need to do much to get at the asshole online players except sit back and watch", yet this is one of several threads you've put on the forums complaining about
SpardaSon21, it is actually far far worse than what is portrayed on this thread. I have another thread that was prematurely shut down that you can see - Assholes of a Solar Empire - and I had so many names to put on that list that never got on that you wouldn't believe. My email box was overflowing with submissions. Furthermore, I continue to witness severe assholery online every night - far, far more than with any other game I've ever seen. You really have no c
Agreed scramble bombers is a lot better now, but the problem is it won't help you against halcs, so it doesnt seem very useful (when 90% of the time thats what you're running into). Mindseye is right though, a couple of flaks with your skirantras will keep the fighters AND bombers down, just be sure you keep your fleet (SC included) close so you can heal them.
Heres what you didnt do with the Kols, you didn't use their offensive power! Charge those Halcs! They cant stand the punishment Kols dish out. You said you had 3 caps? Make your 3rd a Sova for bomber cleanup after you flak burst em. Or go dunov so you can shield restore and magnetize. Point is you gotta charge that Halc fast so you can start laying some smackdown upon it/them, it won't last long and so it will die or retreat, either of which is good for you. And without the Halos bombers, see
Already tried last night - failed. The reason? Bitchslap of doom. In the chatroom after, the seeker/disciple spammer said he considered the halcyon to be OP.
Perhaps you should try Kols/Kortuls, they'll eat carrier caps alive and are tough as nails against lfs/scouts. A new popular advent strategy these days is the double Halo. I usually answer with double carrier caps of my own, (though im wondering how two Kols would fair) but against the Halos, you
I find it pretty easy to spot a smurf before a game, and then easier during and after the game. If I'm not sure about someone, Im certainly sure after a game with them, then its just a matter of whether I want to play with them again. So yeah, smurfing sucks, but I dont really have a big problem with it. I smurf all the danged time, but all my smurfs have records indicative of my skill so :P. PLus I smurf so much that 4 of the 5 accounts I have are around the same number of games played (betw
All the issues with Vasari (with the exception of RA) and Illums are on the PSCF. Im confident the DEVS will accept the proposed changes to the units in question in the next patch. I cant imagine how ridiculously underpowered Vasari are in Vanilla sins (ie without SBs). I don't think Ive played a game since Entrenchment came out that the Orkulus didn't play a major roll in simply because Vasari have no other early game options. No doubt a boost to the Skirms is needed, and will cut do

Beam Pact? It occurs to me that this pact would really only benefit a fellow advent player (consider all the things that use beam weapons as advent). TEC and Vasari only have very limited use of beam weapons. Kol and SBs improved, ok, and on the Vasari side.... Kortuls and Space eggs (pulse beams count right?) get a smal damage boost? That seems a bit... meh. Something Im missing?
