as far as i've relized from sins and this is a bad impression for someone who started on christmas is that carriers are too versitile. CARRIERS JUST RUN AROUND. I've gotten that happen to me. What i've relized is that if you match him in carriers then get 5 sentinals fill the carriers entirely with fightes and you can take out anything. Personally i think that vasari carriers are even teh best which helps a heck of a lot. Well strike craft are the best. My favorite strategy is gi
Vasari ships are generally considered the toughest ships until upgrades are concerned. If you chose the Evacuator as your free capital (which is so common its almost unheard of to use a different one), hopefully, you've put ability points into Nano-Disassembler. Arguably, its the best anti-capital ability which inflicts an armor penalty of -2/-4/-6 on the target as well as dealing 30 hull damage per second (it ignores shields) for 20/30/40 seco
it's like in Age of Empires - the individual units are different (tho each race has the same ships) but they even out in the end. unfortunately, Sins' races all have the same ships, while AOE's civilizations have completely different types of units, while still managing to balance out. the only factor that is fairly universal is the town center and home city shipment of AOE III
I agree AOE is incredib
C ) The Phase missles take so much research and i already had them up to 20% and it was still a pain (i guess i underestimated them, let me give them anotehr try) 20% damage or 20% penetration? They go 10%/20% damage, 5%/10%/15%/20%/25%/30% penetration. I don't remember exactly how many labs you'd need for that-though I'd guess it'd be more than three. Incidentally, phase missiles are useful not o

Heck no the way this game runs won't allow that. ToJKa is right the engine would need a rewrite or they would need another game out for it to work. Maybe guns on planets firing on ships but not ground combat. Besides vasari would win even more[e digicons]:D[/e]
Vasari do have some very powerful ships and abilities, but many of them require quite heavy research, and against Advent penetrating phase missiles is very helpful. One battle like this should not colour your idea of which race is 'fair' or 'balanced.' Play around a bit more, figure out why your friend beat you, and try and counter it to teach him a lesson for having the audacity to beat you. Because, whatever he did, there w

I was very eager to get this game and played the demo quite a lot before I actually got it. The 2 main stereotypes i got were. The TEC have the best economy and are the spammers. While the vasari are the people with the best ships. So far i've found out the second one wasn't really all that true. They do have good ships but it wasn't what i was expecting. The advent in my mind are screwed up. Their main frigate is worse than even the TEC's yet their illuminators do more damage and hav

sorry wrong ship. i'm not very familiar with TEC whatever the colonizing cap is. I play vasari it doens't help this thread is about Advent then TEC. You get my point.
However, given a REAL STRATEGIC match going on, capital ship crews are ALWAYS in ample supply. There is little viable reason to max out your capital ships, and doing so is a great way to get crushed against real living players. I disaggre. Just because capital ships are frowned upon in MP doesn't mean that no one playing Sins, whether MP or SP, uses all of their capital ship slots. Having starb

I dont' own the beta but I have followed threads and know the new units. One thing i would like is pirates to keep increasing in strength and be you know useful beyone 1 hour. After that they're attacks and lack of shield mitigation makes bounties over 10k useless. I'm pretty sure that with shield mitigation a vasari main frigate and take out almost every pirate ship alone. That and their lack of significant strike craft bothers me. All it takes are 4 carriers to take o

Dang people wait for Sins 2 i bet they'll tell you. Then there will be the HaV coalition (Human and Vasari) and hopefully a campaign to play. If the campaign is good that is. My idea is if they added this race it would have frigates that would be several times more powerful than vasari but super expensive. Say starting frigate is 16 support and 1000 credits and 175 metal. Health could be 250 hull and 1500 shields with 15 damage. But if you read in the book about phase inhibitors they say the

i'm also having that mini dump problem and it usually results in me having to shut down my computer because it freezes up. Its really annoying since i can't even get 10 minutes into the game and it happens so I'm not too happy either. And it happens everytime. I got a ticket going. But not sure if stardock can help. I'm running vista.

Thank you for the reply on so much of what I said. It seems you have a good from my standpoint start. But playing vasari makes credits and metal all the more worthwile. Part of the thing is that it really should be Marza and Kol so you can take out enemy planets while colonizing. Marza has the most damage for a TEC capital overal and has a good amount of health while a Kol has the ability to colinize making it hard for the AI to gain planets due to their 1 capital. The point of building

I disagree with the cap slots. You just just have a max of one per gravity well and have the range cover most if not all of the gravity well. At least cover half.
-1 No phasing. Please, for the love of God, no phasing. -If they phase, they're super capital ships. -If they phase, the concept of a limit per gravity well is useless.
I've thought about it. Really did you need to put that text up. Come on. Anyway what is a 15 year old doing modding. Besides if you get the box version it would cost over 20 dollars because the cost of the materials. The point is that entrenchment is cheaper to get via impulse. Stardock and Ironclad aren't really at fault maybe they don't want people to mod the game in entrenchment. Maybe they do. Depends but don't get your panties in a bunch people.

What i want is a starbase that you see autoguns mounted everywhere and it firing at 20+ targets at once with smaller autoguns doing maybe 20 damage. Then having bigger missles and lasers that you have 5 of. Missles and lasers depending on race. Advent lasers. Missles for vasari and tec. I also opose more than one starbase a system. I think they should be fleet killers but not to the extrent that can take down over 500+ support alone. I think you should have a set limit of 5 and make them all

Hes just going to die with a regular animation. It has to do with the demigod at hand. Besides if your really good it wouldn't matter what your death was. You wouldn't die.

I don't think multiple culture structure does anything except speed up culture which in turn would make your planets hit full culture faster but after that planet hits full alliegence you might as well destroy the unused one to make room for something else. Don't forget about refineries. If you get a desert planet then asap get refineries. I've loaded a desert planet up and got over 1.0 extra income on cystal and metal. Another thing is refineries affect planets around them too. So building i
Something that you have to keep in mind is that defenses were NOT made to destroy fleets for one reason: the enemy is the one that gets to decide when to attack. Assuming that his brain is located in his head instead of his rear when he sees he is outmatched he will retreat, or even better, scout out the planet before attacking. Defenses can also be helpful to slow the enemy fleet down while your main fleet gets there to de

I disagree with you. Strike craft are only good because flak sucks except at taking out strike craft. As soon as your enemy builds flak you jsut switch to lrm's and frigates. Those flak frigates then get screwed badly. The only good thing about strike craft are they are despensable and rebuild. Even if they rebuild slowly they do rebuild.
