but lets say your fleet is sitting in place and fighting an enemy. a reinforcement fleet jumps in, and you decide to pull back your forces, your ships will sit there, rotating and not really fighting back, soaking up damage... exactly what you said in reply 34...

put it this way, artillery is a cheap, effective and very powerful alternative to using missiles. if you ever played World In Conflict, you'd understand this =) and, there are times when accuracy isnt needed... when we get to have a war against a real power and not these schmuck terrorists, then the power of artillery is realised.

i want to fly a PElican or at least something heavier than the banshee/hornet i also want an EPIX battle with HEAPS of soldiers/tanks/aircraft etc. atm, Halo battles are relatively small, with like... maybe 12 contacts at once at any one time... the battle doesnt have to be winnable (as in, kill thousands of soldiers then walk away), but for once id like the scale in halo to be larger... it shouldnt be hard, there was a pretty full scale invasion of Reach if i remember correct
It wouldn't solve the problem too well. In most situations when this arcing bullshit manifests, it's when you have to get a large group of ships out of some danger, or to pursuit (both - NOW) something. Ships turn at varying rates. If I ordered a well composed (as in - has a bit of everything included) fleet the order to turn 180, I would have light frigs already turned and waiting before the caps have turned a quarter
Are you really 15..? You sound like a professor or an EPIC nerd who lives in the naturescience lab or something....I thought western 15-yearolds focused on getting drunk and scoring. You seem to be an extreme exception though. But being so insistent on plot and sense....you go too far....if you said that in normal peoples company and ESPECIALLY in other 15-yearolds company they would call you a weirdo and be right!
wow... compliment, insult, racial profiling and age dis

you can press escape, select a fleet or ship, or tell it to build in another grav well or in the planet, that will stop it building

what im saying, is i want to be entertained, i want to be teleported away from the world of beaurecrats and governments and big corporations and populations like blind, dumb sheep (for those of you who are thick, im talking about our planet here), and put into a world where there are heroes, and possibilities, and 'magic' for lack of a better term. i dont care about the SFX, its nice, and its a great tool for doing something like Avatar, but its not the be all and end all. what i dont
know which side the FS is on... Besides, it would not be a new problem.
1. the flagship can and does change sides when the formation is scrambled and realigned 2. never said its a new problem, but a problem nonetheless

@Volt: Ahh, i see, still, each ship would need to be told to rotate first, not just line up with the flagship however they saw fit... though it does make a difference that if you flagship is on the far right of the fleet, and you click for the fleet to get snug into a mine field, the far left of your fleet may run into mines because of alignment issues...
Put it this way. Drive your car and make a right turn doing 40mph. You won't make the same turn if you did it at a slower speed and don't start with brakes, there are none in space only reverse thrust to "slow" you down.
except you cant rotate on the spot in a car... whereas in space it should be absolutely easy what with the no planetary gravity and thrusters and whatnot thats what we are saying. instead of flying forward first, then turning a few sec

that one was funny =P we were camping on a high bluff overlooking a ravine with a river at the bottom of it one camp. we grabbed our big touch macho heavy weapons guy while he was sleeping and moved him so that he was lying face down with his head dangling over the edge of the cliff, then used rope and tent pegs to lash him to the ground so he wouldnt roll off. when he woke up he started screaming like a little girl the rest of us nearly rolled off the hill becaus
However, if fleeted, the ships would automatically align themselves with the flagship (this is to make synchronized phase jumping more effective and allows monster fleets to move more easily).
note though that the flagship isnt always in the middle/center of a formation... that caused me endless grief when lining up a formation...

Your lucky Commissars don't exist as they do in the Warhammer 40k Universe, you'd likely be executed for disrupting the combat readiness of your unit.
