I've actually known very well about the startup bug. I can't remember now if i did my usual check with that, but i've been too busy playing Rebellion to do another check, haha. I'll let you know if my cry was a false alarm.
While i feel slightly stupid for making pointing this out amidst a major outcry of balance issues, I must say: the research-related achievements still do not pop. I've tried again to get the Vasari Empire Researcher achievement, and i didn't even get any fleet research just to be on the safe side, and i do not have the cheevo. I'm sure it still doesnt work for the TEC Civilian and the Advent Warfare as well, which I tried the last time i pointed this out. So yea, not ex
Well first run with the dev.exe goes well until i get a ways in, and build my first Galaxy class. Then it throws this error: Assert @ C:\Projects\P4\SinsDiplomacy\Release\CodeSource\GS/Galaxy/GalaxyOrientation.cpp(23) Vector3::IsNormalized(m_orientation.GetCross()) Other than that and a few others that popped up in the opening sequences to the game, before the main menu. Probably initializing the mod. I'll try another run with the regular .exe
So i keep getting a minidump about 15-20 seconds into a game, and i've tried redownloading the mod and the patch. Each time i've tried restarting, i do the same setup: Random - Medium Large (6 players) Feds (me) Klingons Romulans Dominion Random Random It seems to consistently happen as my ambassador reaches the midpoint of it's first warp jump to the nearby gravity well, the scouts
Just seems like a bug to me, but with certain researches saying that they'll decrease research time/cost, it appears that they actually make researches cost more and take longer. Noticed this getting the Military Doctrine and the Secrets of Ancients researches, and watching researches get more expensive.

Just wanted to point out that at least two achievements i've gone for have not unlocked. TEC Civilian Researcher and Advent Hostility Researcher did not unlock after attempting both. Strangely (or not), the TEC Hostility Researcher achievement was the first i went for, and it DID unlock. I am not sure if this was done before the latest patch, however.
Just tested to see, did the exact same game minus the flagships. Worked that time.
Well all it says is no Cruisers, Frigates, or Corvettes. The only of those i MAY have had would be the flagship, and i'm wondering if that counts since it has no levels.
I tried going for the "Go Big or Go Home" achievement in a short game (just set up a 1v1 easy computer on Point Blank) but i put on Flagship victory and turned off quick start (as it says not achievable with QS). However i still did not get the achievement upon game completion just a few minutes later. Is the flagship considered a cruiser? If it is, i'd think a note should be made of that as well in the achievement description, just so players know.

One thing i don't like about the Jupiter design is that it doesnt have the "Gator Head" that all other battlestars seem to have, though in all honesty i don't even know whether or not that would work with the eight hangar sections surrounding it.. but i would definitely like to see the mid section be much larger and actually connecting fully with the hangar sections rather than having pieces connecting them together. This is an issue i'm also having. i sent the minidump file to support and told them that it instadumps. Hopefully this is something that gets resolved soon.
