What I really want to see is better AI such as dynamic flight path calculation we know that the ships are basically moving on a grid, and ship movements even those of other players so, we know the exact end point of the movement then the computer will calcuate, based on ship speed and distance, plot an intercept course
dude if that was Federation vs Klingon or Romulans, or Cadassians in the SoA2 mod........ How big is your initial fleet?
Usually within 3 research station, I already have research defense squadron. So usually, when a pirate raid occurs, my fighters and bombers just can take care of them. Most of the time, I have my fleet intercept them a planet before. Usually they will hit the planet which is cloest to them.

well i m pretty sure that you can change the files so it is more natural...
Recently I have noticed in my Sins games, that I am losing the sun's meshes, and it only shows up if I only use all default settings. I tried reinstalling, but no help. Checking disk, but no hope there. Any ideas?
