Which weapon is it that looks like evil blue ghosts chasing down my ships?
Vespucci
Am I reading it correctly that you have two gtx260s?
I'm playing a game with the same problem, it's a huge random. I have researched every item in all trees. I just had to assume there was no phase lane between the stars, so I completely reworked my strategy to assualt through these wormholes. Here's the kicker: I've caught scouts with explore enabled jumping between the stars, yet I can't manually do it.
Secret feature my balls. That's a marketing scheme to assuage the fears of people who were sucked into the initial Vista is crap phenomenon. (Whether Vista was crap initially is not the point here, but that so many people were displeased that they backgraded to XP and got community attention for doing it is.)
Product of the culture man, that's all.
Duh, because they're getting doubled teamed. Like any bunch of angry women who claim their exhusbands emotionally abused them long ago, they waited until the dude was getting beat up by some illegal alien carjacker before they jumped in to jab a nail file in his nutsack. [e digicons]8|[/e]

Who else would be willing to pay $10 extra bucks for this?
Well, I don't (on this system can't) have 4+ gigs of ram and I only have one core, but within the time it takes them to make the ne
Early game more than anything you need to tailor it to what you're doing. I can only speak about vasari, but I love for the desolator to be my second ship if I'm going to be attacking many planets or structures, and I usually find reason to do so. The vasari carrier is good if you're fielding strike craft, and it's repair ability is not bad. If you're fighting a lot of strike craft i like the kortul for its jam weapons. Kortul is also useful against advent with the dis

You're not able to see the shadow properly. What looks like a hole/dent is a really a bump with a pointy thing sticking out at about 2:30.
TEC: 1 Dunov for Flux field surrounded by 3 Kols. 1 Akkan to boost range, and call an armistice if necessary (while MB is charging back up). That leaves 11 spots for Marzas. Mmmm that's a lot of missiles...
I think the vasari answer to that is 3 kortuls and 13 skirantras which you just kite around and around and around. Or maybe 4 kortuls and 12 antoruks. God that'd be a nasty fight though.
It's not perfect though. I had a group of 5 scouts plow right through a minefield. The only mines they destroyed were the mines they hit.
Uh, I just played with a friend against two normal randoms, one of which divided its fleet in half and came at my buddy from two directions, the same planet, but was alternating the two fleets.
It really depends on what you're putting your fleet up against. But, I'd have to say in your scenario I'd design the rest of the fleet first and then pick the capital ships which complemented that, not the other way around. The cap ships represent a minor fraction of what you've got on the field. Now . . . if it was just the cap ships, as vasari against your fleet, I think I'd like 5 kortuls, 3 antoraks, 4 eggs, and 4 desolators. I would use the antoraks t

Ehh, I play vasari exclusively and probably will until I master it. I played the others just to see what their ship/tech are like. I don't even remember the advent voices, but the TEC voices are waaay too much of a 'don't ask so we don't have to tell' kind of military. Read that as the crews are all male and nobody minds missing a port. The first time i built a desolator and it started complaining I was like "Wtf?! you're my bitch!"
If they put it on hold, it has the same effect.
Step 1. Distract your vasari opponent with a more pressing battle he needs to micro, skip this if it's the AI. Step 2. Jump in 1 siege vessel and whatever your race kills SBs with (1 migrator, 3ish or more Ogrovs, whatever the hell advent uses) Step 3. Kite the siege frigate in an 8 pointed star around the grav well, 3 revolutions should be enough. Ta da! The vasari sb will follow the siege frigate around forever, never catching it, ignoring the shooting it's get
Yep. too many. The ships will make one phase jump to an asteriod. An asteroid can support 3 refineries.
I think the solution here is a DPS cap. If a capital ship takes more than a certain amount of damage within a 1 second interval, further damage is ignored. So, if the DPS cap is 400 (for a 4000 hp capital ship, that's a 10 second lifespan, fairly reasonable considering they don't get much tougher than that) and a fleet of 100 bomber squadrons descends upon it, they will deal a mere 400 damage because their attacks were too synchronized.&
