If I own SoaSE on Impulse, and a friend buys it on Steam, can I play with them? If so, I have no problems [e digicons][/e]

TBH, the new caps are prob gonna have some tie-in with some new feature they are adding in, e.g. loyalist/rebel. They may also fill gaps or buff strengths, but thats where my money is.
its an advent-only ability. Always been there
Some problems still exist: - Phase Trap need nerf, at least targets cap (40?) - Phase missiles are too effective, maybe some TEC/Advent support cruiser's abilities could give "chance to block phase missiles" to friendly units? - Kostura is still too effective against structures - Both Cielo and Domina need very significant buffs to their abilities, on top of that domina should turn 2x faster, to m
yeeeeeeeeees
I dont know i this was the case before this patch, but will Kostura Cannons auto-targeting fire upon planets other kostura's are already firing/fired at? If so, it would be nice to change that since there is no benifit to multiple blasts anymore. This is also ignoring there is little use for more than two kostura's at all anymore, but meh.
oh, and I finally figure out how to put up an avatar pic, so thats why I have one now. [e digicons][/e]
If I want to play a fast-paced competitive RTS ill go play starcraft2 or some game designed to be that. SoaSE is heavily designed to support looooong games, and is why I play it. Big battles, big wins, big losses. Macro-strategy is used, not rushing strategy. For the 'rushing' stage of a game to be over, it would take the time same time as an entire online game. And if AI were improved, they would be funner to play against. Refer to original post.
Hard coded conditionals in todays AI is a horiffic idea. Here are some links to articles that talk about AI for the FPS game, F.E.A.R. While the AI requirements of a RTS and a FPS are different, the underlying frameworks is the same. No scripting, no "simple" conditionals. Instead, allow the computer to query the world, decide what it wants to do, and figure out how to get from the state it's in,
Naw, im not having any problems. I just dont like the lack-of-skill advantage that the upper-level AI get, simply getting things faster than possible. And yeah, im playing vs unfair+. AI coding is actually something that mildly interests me, however, and IF i get into a coding career I might try my hand at some AI. But even with the current AI, it would be just as simple as some conditionals with a response, i.e. "larger enemy force in sector, my cap ship is low/destroyed-- resp
i dont know if you all are, but im tired of cheating AI. Im tired of seeing HC and Carriers in my first battle, even if I rush the AI. Im tired of having to SB rush just to force an AI out of a planet they JUST colonized, because if they own a planet they start pulling ships out of their ass until my fleet is picked off ship by ship until I have to retreat. Im tired of having to build SB just to survive the first wave a comp sends at me. Im tired of seeing no c
Mmk, thanks for all the help. I just need to get out of the nostalgic mindset of long games and huge battles that were rampant in Entrenchment and vanilla. Well, the way we played thats how they were :P I do like the idea of sacrificing strike craft to militia, need to try that out next game.
Sry, I wasnt descriptive enough, his fleets arent only kols and HC, he has a few other caps as well as about 1:5 repair ships to HC's, as well as a good number of LRM's. The AI we play with are Unfair difficulty, so rushing them is tough since they cheat (HC's and carriers by their 3rd planet? yeah right). I simply have to get SB's up to counter AI rushes as well as OP early pirates. My next strat I will try is a couple Carrier caps, as we
Im asking because I am hoping theres a very very simple solution to the problem me and my friend are in. Me, as Vasari, can not beat him, as TEC, specifically in diplomacy. His strategy is practically bulletproof, and we both agree that its practically impossible for me to win. In short, he starts the game by buddying up with the nearest TEC AI, focusing on diplomacy and eco. Using them as help he fights off pirates or other AI while he builds up economy. Gets to 8 tier civ $$ upgrade
I get the 'Defeat' screen when i try to play my custom game also, how did you fix it?
