They are a various assortment of independent human planets. Some might be friendly with the TEC but want to maintain their independence, some might hate the TEC, but they are linked by the fact that they will defend their home territory vigorously, even if they have trade relations with the TEC. Storywise, they're quite versatile and if you're writing a story they can be made to suit many purposes. On a grand scale, they're insignifigant and are getting crushed because

They are .ogg files. While I could give you some instructions on codec and the like, I'm going to give the easy way: Download a program called "VLC Player". It will play almost any sound or video format, encoded with almost any codec. It's easier than messing arround. It's like Windows Media Player, but better. (Except for the interface, but that isn't really important)

I'm planning on buying the Collector's Edition, and I'd like to not have to open the box but instead keep it in a nice, safe place. I know that I can download the game if I register it through Impulse, but can I register the game without opening the box?
