How would the fact that there is max fleet affect anything. Is it because its maxing out my ram? well I'm at 700 megs of a game cap of 2 gigs (aka 1/3). Is it because it maxes my cpu? No I'm at 60-80% on one core and 20-30% on the other. So please explain how "Max fleet is my problem". That being said the AIs tendency to jump fleet back and forth between two planets in the middle of nowhere needs to be fixed.
You could try hamachi. https://secure.logmein.com/products/hamachi2/download.aspx or you could both plug into the router. Alternatively you could connect the PCs with a ethernet cord and create an adhoc network. :p P.S. I'm assuming that you are both running the same version and no mods, if not that could be the problem.
hm. Is this problem showing up on the menu or only ingame?
Is your graphics driver up to date?
Already working with them. I got told to verify the installation and well.... Sins of a solar empire (the original) believes that it was not installed correctly. Fixing it breaks Diplomacy and fixing Diplomacy breaks the original. I uninstalled and reinstalled the original, diplomacy and entrenchment only to have the same problem. I have gone through this circle several times. I'm waiting for their response to that little bit of fun.
If you still have the games on the other PC you can do the following (on the other PC) 1) open stardock/impulse 2) right click on the game in the my games tag and select regestration if not you may want to open a support ticket at
Trinity IS entrenchment and diplomacy so they may already be updated. Look in the lower right hand corner of the game first menu to see what you have (vanilla is 1.191 entrenchment is 1.051 and diplomacy is 1.2).
Just as an fyi the update option doesn't even show up if the game is up to date.
*snip*
The base usage of ram includes having a bunch of stuff open. Hey I just got it to use 3.2 Gigs of ram for 2 copies of eve, along with other things. So anything below diplo is just unplayable on a map with more than 4 players? Also its a lan connection over Hamachi not that it matters because I get lag in single player too.
Updated OP
This game lags horribly for no apparent reason. The game is at 3-6 FPS but is only using 623 MB of ram (bringing the total ram usage to 2.23 GB). CPU usage is at 50-65%. I turned off ship icons (trade ship icons were already off) along with phase lanes and everything else. When that didn't do anything I maxed the graphic settings just to see what happened, nothing did. Zooming in to a major fleet battle or zoomin
As far as the faster CPU ... that doesn't explain the huge discrepancy. if he was getting 2x my FPS fine, but he is getting 5-10x. We have at most a 2-3x discrepancy in FPS in other games if that.
If it was the network I would be getting consistent lag spikes. Seeing as they only show up 2-3 hours into the game and starting a new game with out restarting the game or resting the connection results in 2-3 hours with out lag spikes....
If ram is the problem why does it never use the full 2 gigs? my PC uses about 1.6 gigs to just run the stuff I run in the background (Vent, Hamachi, FF, OS, etc) and I only use 2.9 when Sins is running. So sins is only using 1.3 gigs. Also if the problem is my ram and its being kept under what my computer is capable of and my friend is also artificially caped at the same point why does he get twice my FPS?
I'm pretty sure its 4 gigs.
I turn them from near max down to min and get no effect. Also my friend's FPS only drops to 40 ish (he is using near max settings) and he is the one hosting. Processor: Intel Core i7 Q720 (can reach 2.8GHz) Memory: 6GB DDR3 Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce GTS 360M Operating System: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit Also I don't real
Version: 1.051 Players: 8 (2 PCs 6 NPCs) I personally have 9 ships everyone else has near max.
