McAfee and Norton, although they are high profile, are in the middle of the pack in terms of effectiveness (Norton is a resource hog though). AVG is ahead of them, it's very good, and the best thing you can get for free. If you want the real best, It's either NOD32 or Kaspersky. There is this tema which does a thorough analysis of antivirus program, I can't seem to find the link now, sorry. It' a way better methodology than that used in magazine reviews. Kaspersky and NOD usua

Yesterday I pitched 3 Marzas against a fully upgraded starbase, and they still won't be more powerful than the starbase. Sure, they will dish out a respectable amount of damage, but the starbase would have killed them if I had not retreated. O, I had a few hoshikos to aid on support. doubling (or tripling) up the ships firepower will not make it more powerful than a starbase.

Being a late-game option I believe it should a level 8 military tech research to be unlocked. Tech level 8 usually has a single thing in the tech tree... should have more ;) To even it out, everyone else wil have their own. two of those ehemoths throwing slugs at each other would be a clash of titans. I believe the upshot in special skills would be more in terms of shorter cooldown / more antimatter with faster replenishment modest damage bonus maybe. If you upgrade the offensiv

Recent notebook should not overheat if you place the air outlets unobstructed, unless design is crap. get a good one, e.g. from Asus. Overtime, depending on your place, dust could block the airway. One thing which may help keeping your CPU cooler is the thermal paste. My brother has a black Macbook, and itused to get hot frequently, with the fan kicking in frequently. I opened the machine, wiped the thermal paste clean using isopropylic alcohol, made absolutely sure the cpu surface di

I have read other people wanting more and more super-duper ships, but I feel current system is already pretty good. That said, It would be nice to have a ship of excep[tional firepower. I will call that the Admiral ship. Like in star wars, there are star destroyers and the super star destroyer. It would be impossible to just buy this ship. You would have to upgrade a capital ship up to level 10, then move this ship to a gravity well where you have a capital ship factory.
i was gonna say that the above mentioned SB's look like they could be some kind of superbase taht each player can only have one of in each STAR SYSTEM Thats an interesting idea. It would have to fill a different role to the ordinary StarBase though.
I was thinking more in the lines of different starbase designs, which could be specialized in different directions of the original ones. I

I agree with the idea of having a fleet upkeep proportional to the fleet size, although I can cope with the current system. Perhaps reducing the base upkeep level (the current tax), to reflect that the empire needs a minimum infrastructure to be able to manage the fleet size. On top of that, a per-ship upkeep, which would bring the cost more or less to the same levels we currently have. The point is adding more survivavibility to the player if he takes a severe hit, because he gets to pay les

Dear devs, In my continuing string of I-want-this-and-that-on-the-game-and-space-ponies-too, here are my suggestions to improve the pirates: Let them behave more like mercenaries. Mercenaries would take up on the role of direct attack against enemies. It should be an extension of the marketplace. Mercenary parties : In the marketplace, Hiring mercs would be like an auction. Dear devs, I am having great enjoyment with the game. The AI is good enough to give a challenge, but there some dumb AI decisions which could be looked into. 1) path finding. More often than not, big fleets have traffic jams. It is annoying that the ships bump into each other and stop dead in their tracks. 2) The AI fails to do a proper assessment of my defensive power. A defensive starbase on a neutral node can be tough, but it is by no means indestructible. On a plan
Both for new races and for the existing ones I could imagine it. It would add (even) more depth if the starbase constructors could build different SB's from the start. I think that would be pointless because the current SBs can already be upgraded to be able to do everything and anything.
They can't do everything. Sure, there is something in common on all of them, but each one has its unique abilities, where it excels.&nb

I have posted ths in the thread for entranchment 1.03 update, but it seems it is almost out of the door, so I will re-post it here for your appreciation (especially the devs): My idea is to add one additional starbse model per race. Limit would still be 1 starbase per gravity well, and each starbase design has its own strenghts. For TEC: a ring-station-style around the whole planet. It would have defense/economy as its strongest points, adding a force field around the planet (

1) More starbases! If I were to add 1 different starbase design to each race, I would do: a ring-station-style around the whole planet. For TEC probably. It would have defense as its strongest point, adding a force field around the planet (similar to the planetary structure they already have, maybe better - both could be combined) Defense would encompass the whole world, but firepower would be less concentrated. upgrades: weapons (2-3) h
