Hey guys, This topic seems to have died off, but I really didn't feel like making another post for a simple question. If you feed your allies as computers will they use the credits and so on effectively? I play TEC, and was wondering if you could "practice" feeding without being online. Is it a waste of time with computers?

I thought the Akkan got the buff after the expansions? I'm still playing vanilla. I have the other games, but choose not to play them. So, does the Akkan get the 33% extraction rates in vanilla?
I've been watching my hoho's during different fights, and it seems like there are a couple problems I run into. First off when the fight starts for some reason they all want to run up and attack sitting there tanking on the front line. I don't know if the AI targets closer things or not, but at the very least it seems like the hoho's should stay in the back and heal. Their DPS has to be minimal, right? Anyways, that's easy enough to stop by turning off auto attack, so they at least stay in t
When I started playing the game I played TEC because of their economic advantage. As I see more and more though it seems like the advantage to TEC is the cheap ships more than the strong econ. I play mostly 3v3's and haven't played diplomacy yet, but econ seems more or less useless unless you are in the econ spot. I started out building econ upgrades until I read about trade ports not being useful until you have a 6 planet chain. Then I read about how small an increase you get by increasing y
That's a good question. I'd like to see what some people say. I personally grab a few upgrades if I need them before I hit the next fleet level, and I also fill my fleet and try some sort of offensive so I can fight and replace those units with less tax. I wonder if I'll get behind enemy fleet sizes doing that... My view is as soon as you increase fleet size and then your fleet goes below being full from the last fleet size you are on the path to defeat. You are making less money,
Eh, I like em, but I don't love em. Just don't quite love em. I will take your word on it, and go ahead and put that cash into getting the upgrades faster. I worry that I will sac too much time into them, and be behind in fleet size though. Gotta learn though I reckon. I'm pretty sure I'll stick with TEC. Advent seems to be a lot of microing in battle. To be honest I don't wanna spend *that* much time in there pulling it off. I'd rather have the ability to take somebody out, or cripple them e
Eh, I keep hearing about how powerful the hoshikos are, but I'm having a hard time getting em. I get them, but its only because I hear how people always say they are so powerful. So, I guess the problem is they aren't a priority for me. Both of the repair bay upgrades and then the hosi upgrade seem like a lot for a little dude that heals... Usually I'm too busy thinkin I need a few more LRM's to take out defenses on that homeworld. I'll aim for the "pin em and leave em" idea next time. I thou
Huh? Everybody QQ (cries) because they say people rush too much... Maybe I should learn though to prepare more before an attempted homeworld strike. People usually have defenses and a starbase up.
blitzes are a rarity in this game
This sounds very contrary to what I hear, but maybe somebody can throw out an opinion on that for me.
Hey again y'all. I'm back with more questions after another multiplayer game. I have made it into entrenchment, finally...Thanks to everyone who has posted suggestions before, but I have another question... How do you put the last nail in the coffin? I mean I am just failing at finishing somebody off. Usually the situation goes something like this... I head for the enemy and decide where I want the first fight to happen. (Works out) Build up a repair bay or two. (Wo
Yeah... I've read alot about scout spamming... I'm a little dissapointed now as you mention that. I should've at least tried it. My LRM's held off one attack with a repair bay behind them. At least scouts spammed would've looked better... ;)
Well, I'm in vanilla so no starbase. We played a medium random, 3v3. Each had two enemies on each side. That means... Econ = No Starbase = No Military = Spam LRM's with only a home planet? I threw down two civs, took the volcano, upgraded metal income (since that was basically all I was getting), and spammed LRM's to the best of my ability... It seemed really stupid though. I fought until my death(more or less), and ran with my Akkan... Meh It w
Hey y'all, I've seen people talk about no roid starts, but I couldn't find a thread talking about what to do when you have one. Everyone complains about it, but is there a popular plan of action to deal with it and make something of it? If there is one up feel free to just link it and I'll check it out. I just played a MP game yesterday and I started with my home planet connected to a volcano planet, nothing more. The volcano only had two phase lanes, one to my home, an
Hey guys I thought of another question. I asked earlier if the diplomacy screen helps any. I don't think I explained it well enough. Does the ingame screen that ranks players based on Econ - Culture - Miltary help much? Does culture show who has the most? Does military show who has used the most ship slots? Do people consider it as they attack/defend? That kinda stuff...
Then it must have been 5 fleet upgrades. 1 cap, and spammed LRM's I promise ya There were some siege frigs though. I had 3 Civ labs and 2 Military. I thought it worked by having a total of 5 labs? Like I said... I spammed, and I mean spammed, LRM's and could always replace and then continue to fill my fleet as fast as they killed em. I had flak based off my fleet. 3 LRM, 1 Flak. So I guess I could've scouted more and then made more or less flak, but I always seemed to
I just got done beating two unfair AI's yesterday, because I read on the forums good online players can pull it off. I had lots of questions though after I got done. I played a random meduim map with 2 Unfairs locked on a team. I played as TEC. (I'm back in the original sins btw) I started up quickly with an akkan expanding towards a choke point I knew I wanted to use, and 4 scouts, 1 or 2 LF's, and a colony ship grabbing close, weak defended planets. By the time I made it to my choke
Aight thanks for the answers so far guys. I was a little dissapointed I let off the other day, but I learned something from the match so it's not a big deal. Had fun even though I lost. Better to have somebody make a comeback now and learn something from it instead of later on a team game. I don't take games as seriously as I used to. As long as I can hold my own with an above average player I'm content. I'd prefer to just be consitent, and not make stupid mistakes tha
Aight, I'm still workin along to really be decent at SINS. I'm still playing the original version without the expansion and learned a tough lesson today. If you have the advantage don't stop attacking. Played a 1v1 TEC vs Advent, I was TEC. Military teched to LRMS, scouted, and headed towards the enemy home planet. Took out two of his planets on the way that were volcano, but I couldn't tech since I went military. Stopped one planet short of his home planet when I had a bigger fleet and a bet
Has this caused anyone else to lose "The Game?" :( It ain't worth readin' 81 pages to find out...
We didn't get creamed, but to say you were even beaten by a hard comp with even players it might as well be the same thing. Also the map was Razors Edge, so it's close quarters. Does this change the approach? I assumed you'd still have two on offense and one economizer even on a small map. So most of the points are correct (althought I didn't go into the detail yall did), but a lot of people disagree on 3. You can rush to illum, but you'd better start making a fle
Just tried a 3v3 with some buddies against hard comps. Sadly, we lost. I'm pretty sure were doing some things wrong... So, can y'all help me make sure I've got some things right? Also, if I'm missing some forum ettiquette you'll have to excuse me... TEC = Econ Advent = Military Power Vasari = Balanced? -- Not to say this is all they do, but they do these things best? 1) Akkan can be an offensive ship since it colonizes and has ion bolt.
