Ships will die simply by picking the mothership early. It's a fact. It's weaker, you wont be able to use shield restore early on if you are colonizing and you'll lose that 1000 credits just through light frigate deaths. You arent saving money by getting a mothership until late game and wont be buying enough upgrades with the 20% boost early on to make any impact that isnt negated through need to rebuild ships lost to pirates. It's benefits are minimal at best and almos

[quote who="Darvin3" reply="17" id="2160532"] Progenitor is a much better second ship. You will be getting colony ships to aquire neutral nodes anyways, so colonize is pointless early on. Get a Radiance first. This is dead wrong. You will need colony ships to acquire neutrals, but don't waste time and money using them on planets. The progenitor's colonize ability has a special bonus; for a few minutes after being colonized, you get a discount on all planet u

[quote who="CenturionJixra" reply="14" id="2160126"] 2. As for the first cap ship...probably the mothership is the best choice. If you don't like that, then I would suggest the Rapture. Almost always go with the Progenitor Mothership without exception because you will want the shield restore ability for both fighting off large militias and opponents. The colonization bonus is also worthwhile. An Advent mothership upgrade path should go (1) Colonize, (2) Shield

I'm basing my tips on Quick Start Entrenchment games. Capital Ship Plan what Capital Ship you want first and make it your first step. You shouldnt be hovering over each ship humming and awing over which one you want. As Vasari, you may want the Mothership since they have scouts for neutral node grabbing while others are forced to buy the colony ships anyways. <span style="fo

I would never recommend a mothership for the first capital. It's fairly weak, has a terrible lvl 6 ability and is only decent as support with the shield renewal, which you are going to skip early for the planet colonization probably. Youw ill also need to build the colony ship anyways to get neutrals, meaning you just wasted the capital ship choice. Take a Radiance or Carrier capital ship. Radiance is just all around good offense and defense, very similar to a

1v1 with a computer is about 10-30 minutes (with quick start) and depending on the size of map and difficulty (longer for higher difficulties). newer people will probably have harder time, but it's quite easy to beat the computer after you've played and learned the ropes a bit (or have past experience with these types of games). 3-5 player FFA on small to medium maps might take 2 to 3 hours depending on skill and difficulties. Anything higher than that will be 6 ho

Not sure what I'd like to see with Diplomacy, as that is a more 4X type of feature typically. Best part of Sins is the way it combines RTS and 4X for a faster paced game (although you can still have long games) while maintaining the best parts of 4X play. Culture However, the one thing that needs an overhaul is Culture . It's useless right now. Advent can sometimes take over a plan

I hate how they surrender. Im having a hell of a time doing the civic-only and military-only achievements (only ones left for each race) simply because I dominate an opponent and push him back to his base/stabilize my borders /box him in and then he surrenders after I spend a half hour researching ad nauseum. Quite annoying to be honest. Ive had it happen in FFA's with the enemy having 5+ planets left and in 1v1 where he has all kinds of money left (based on end game stats),

A tip for creating trade routes is to put up a trade port and then hover on the credits income. Itll show the longest route. If its the same or longer than the original, allow the trade port to be completed. If it breaks / shortens your longest route, cancel the trade port before the drone even begins construction. This traderoute update doesnt occur when upgrading a starport, though. Just the actual trade ports.

I put a trade port on every planet (sometimes multiple trade ports) in Vanilla Sins and my trade path is always the longest 5 paths and updates whenever i add a new trade port to a longer route. Have never noticed any problems that you guys are talking about. Also, about the resource focus, if you search and find a resource bonus to the planet and it has 3-4 of that type, stack some trade ports and set it to resource focus and you just cranked up the amount of resources f
