I want to make a weapon that is an energy sphere that vaporizes all the enemy ships it touches. I want it to expand from a ship only to a set size, not the whole gravity well. How do I do this?

Hi all. I'd like to make a mod based around one of my ideas, but I've never modded before. I'd appriciate any and al lhelp, and if I can do something for ya'll, just ask! I'm working on my model in wings 3D, but I have not added any of the turrets yet. Are they considered seperate parts of the model in the game or what?

Is there a site or some threads that will tell me what I need to make ships and such in the game, and how to texture and whatever else, and then import them. I've played around in wings 3D a bit, but that's the limit of my 3D modeling experiance.

Well thank you for the replies so far. Most of my ships use cluster missle bays protected by armored missle doors. so poop The battleships also usually have large particle accelerator cannons, twin barrel gauss turrets, twin barrel energy weapon turrets, pulsed energy turrets for fighters, as well as carrying their escorts.
