Of course they want good items to be prohibitively expensive in in-game gold. They want you to spend your real life money for these items instead.

You can see the ship customization and combat in the video I posted on page 2.
I also voted NO. I don't see myself playing even hotseat, though I had many nice games of Heroes 3 and 4 when I was younger. 4X TBS online multiplayer is horrible. I've only played Civ 4, but it took ages to set up a game, people were ragequitting all the time because they didn't like their spawn location, because they didn't get a wonder, because they didn't get a religion... And then of course, there was very limited num
No, rebellion is not going to be 64bit. There are many problems which can arise from trying to make a 32-bit game 64-bit. For example - The problem with 64 bit is that every single third party library used in the game needs to support 64-bit (must have 64bit version). Look into SoaSE installation directory. See all those DLL files? Every single of those must exist in 64bit version as well. These are usually provided by 3rd party vendors...who often don't pro
Somebody said "sprawling tech tree"? Actually, that is skill tree from Path of Exile. I personally like the untabbed tech tree in Endless Space. It also offers quite some strategic possibilites. For example, I often find myself b
And where am I supposed to enter that key?
Another HD video. Contains some battles, ship design and a my attempts to fix awfully low approval rating.
Did anybody figure out where to put the DLC serial key? Also how do I traverse the weird blurry phase lanes? I'm completely cut off from everybody else with one of these. I must say the standard phase lane density setting tends to generate quite a few one-phase-lane bottlenecks.
You can take multiple routes to some techs, yes. To research a tech, you need to know at least one of its prerequisites.

So I played this game a bit. Installation was completely automatic (all credit goes to Steam - the game will be Steamworks based, including multiplayer managed by Steamworks, MP isn't in the alpha for now though). Here is a video of me playing first 15 minutes of a new game (don't forget to switch to 1080p): I don't have audio recording equipment, so the commentary is only textual. I may post
I have just preordered and am downloading it right now :) I will try to Fraps some gameplay tomorrow.
Here is an "first look" at the alpha (which can be already pre-purchased and downloaded on steam ). Finally a turn-based space strategy game which actually has beautiful UI. Especially after the graphical and UI distaster named Star Ruler. EDIT: Never mind the link, it was already posted. But the
There is no way to do realistic space battles because we, as a species, have never had real ones. WWI and later... we've got lots of 'realistic' movies and games, but we aren't getting the epic Farscape or Serenity fleet battle endings or even EVE.
Actually, there is abundance of realistic space battles in hard science-fiction literature. They just don't translate very well into games or movies.
Asari have some amazing ship designs (and honestly, they are as close to the Advent as it gets...TB even mistaked Advent for the Asari in his stream). Turians might end up being too similar to the Alliance (but there is of course still space to creativity). Geth are also rather interesing. And the Quarians' Migrant Fleet have some amazing potential for creative game mechanics.
I didn't see the stream, but I don't think he is going to do a WTF is... I don't see how he could compress the game into a 30 minute video.
You can disable all those messages by setting Dialogue volume to 0.
3% chance in a game mechanic is is VERY bad idea unless the mechanic is either very fast repeating (like critical hit chance with fast attack rate) or it affects many targets at once. Would you really want the titan fights to boil down to one player getting lucky roll of a dice? I personally think that the disable/debuff abilities should work on titans, but oly with limited effectivity (like 50%). I think it should be possible to lock out a titan,
I think Rebellion is going to be great hit. They are adding exactly the kind of feature which resonates with great many players - bigger badder toys to play with and more factions. Plus it is going to be released on steam. I personally hope Rebellion is not the last expansion for SoaSE. Sequel would inevitably have much fewer features than a game with three expansions (which could lead to great disappointment). Also, it would be very easy to

Also most Vasari names have this Hindu vibe to them. Advent names on the other hand have clear Christian Roman theme (Iconus, Radiance, Revelation...). I think the Russian names are supposed to fit with the "brute force" aspect of the TEC (which is in games and pop-culture in general traditionally associated with Soviets/Russia). Vasari have this mystical feel of the unknown to them, hence the Hindu. And Advent are the religious mystical, which fits the Christian Roman
