So I really like Sins, but I have heard that in diplomacy pirates are crazy stong, so much so that late game pirate attacks can take out your heavy fortified, starbase clad home planet. Is this the case? If it is true then why bother spending money on your own units when they are vastly inferior to pirates?

The part where you describe the Overseer teaming up with a Marauder interests me. I am fairly new to the game and have been wondering what situations a Marauder would be good in. Do you just rock around casting subversion on enemy planets as much as possible or what exactly do you do?

So I recently picked up the game as well and I am having some trouble understanding how it works. Question 1: Does the CPU buy resources from the black market or is this economy system only good in multiplayer? Question 2: I figured out how to set my rate, and how to put 100, 200, 500 etc of a certain resource on there, but how do people buy it?
