I like to play multiplayer games with friends. Usually this involves us playing together against a varying size and difficulty of AI opponents. Typically we play using different factions or races but this seems to be very difficult in Rebellion. One of the best techs early on for the TEC rebels is the "Truce among Rogues" tech. There have been no recent firewall update. Just in case this was the issue I turned my firewall off and nothing changed. I have even run a crossover cable from one computer to the other and also no change.

I am able to join games on Ironclad online I don't see how it could be a port forwarding problem anyway on a LAN...

It doesn't matter what map I use it still happens. We tried the other computer and it starts the host and then i join fine but get disconnected as the game starts. Also my computer is faster so I think the game usually runs faster if I host...

When I click on the 'create' button in multiplayer, the option goes gray along with the 'join game' and 'load game' icons on the left of screen. Nothing then happens.
