Do you? Really you can't ever expand too quickly (well maybe if abusing the TEC Rebel truce amongst rogues). Most good players have their cap go in one direction and their fleet going in another to colonize faster, sometimes building turrets so their ships can attack the next planet rather than destroying all the militia.
Well, I only base that off of expanding so I can get 2/3 chokepoints and more planets than my enemies. I play rebellion offline, against AI. I usually play against hard AIs (I haven't even tried higher, but I will later on tonight). I have all speeds to fastest, small fleet size, and play with pirates off and teams locked. I've beaten every single (recent achievement, that's why I'm posting here.) map this way. (FFA, Hard enemies). I usually just do Med/Large randoms. Factions are always random. Victory options are usually at default, but I've been messing with capi

I've recently begun modding sins, so I figured I'd pick up this little project because it will help me out as well as familiarize me with a lot of the entities. http://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?key=tL2s8xxE429nFYEvV2MfjQg&gid=0 I just started, so don't expect much. The link is automatically updated as I progress though. Any certain categories that you think would be more important

What do you mean when you say that charge missles were off? Did you deactivate them with a left click, or did you just turn off autocast?

Also, don't forget you can speed the game up via the GUI in Entrenchment and Diplomacy or the -/= keys in any game (all the way up to x8). I played Sins for about 3 months until I got Entrenchment and found out you could speed up the game. It makes it a bit harder, but overall more fun.

Before you say you have problems updating, actually check your game version with the most recent version. (You can see what the most recent version is in Impulse, I believe) There seems to be a LOT of confusion over "do I have the latest version" because all the expansion packs have different version numbers! A good start would be to completely uninstall sins of a solar empire and then reinstall trinity via impulse if one of your versions is back a bit.
When i reinstal it, in game menu I have version 1.00. ( I instal the triniti version, so i have diplomaci )
The most recent (and the only) version for trinity is version 1.0. The mod you want to install is for Entrenchment only. The mod is outdated and cannot be used. End of story.

AFAIK the current version are 1.19, 1.05, and 1.00. Let take things slowly here. After a FRESH INSTALL FROM IMPULSE what are your current version numbers?

Oddly enough, when you install Trinity your only choices are Entrenchment, Diplomacy, and Trinity. Trinity is just plain old Sins as it turns out! So, as long as your frient is patched to the latest version, you should be able to play with him fine (by running Trinity)!

Itharus hit it pretty much on the head. One of the largest improvements that could be done would be to have all positive and negative causes be uncapped. I know that doesn't make much sense, so let me go into detail. As it is now, all diplomatic actions are really limited. -1.5/+3 for missions, +2 (I think) for gifts, +10 (at 1.5 per planet) for envoys and so on. I'm unsure how everything else is... but I'm pretty sure it's all just as limited. It woul

If you start off with a Sova you should take it to their homeworld and embargo ASAP. Then run around the grav well and have your bombers take out their structures. My favorite caps on that map are the Sova (with embargo), Kol (forcefield), and Kortul (power surge). I usually send a LF and a colony frig to the asteroid to start out and get my cap ship to their Homeworld. If pirates are on, I don't build extractors on the asteroid and just use it as a buffer for the pirates. I follow th
