Now I ve uploaded an avatar that matches (sizes even slightly less than max. allowed, 99x82 and even less than 20kb), but it doesnt display except in my own private 'image' section of 'my account'. Are the real requirements hidden? Or is it just major lag...(upload was like 6 hours ago).

Power surge (I guess due to the recent thunderstorms) detroyed my PSU...Im on an older one now but I had to remove my videocard capable of playing sins as well cause its eating more food than that old PSU can supply... My plans for galactic domination should have to wait (but not for long as I was buying a brand new PC already..It is in the assembly process already /cheer). Btw arent we getting a little bit off-topic :P Not that I mind tho.

haha, insane cheater yes ^.^, thats why I usually play normal settings on every game because from 'hard' its mostly only AI-cheating. In Sins however it seems that 'hard' means just smarter but anything above 'hard' means also cheating? Is that correct? 100+ squads :-) yeah I noticed that. They kill a starbase for you even before your fleet can reach it (which I always avoid on purpose >. Btw Darvin, your avatar means you re a big fan of the Advent? I almost a

[e classic]:)[/e] Thank you Sanchezz, you provided some good tips. As a matter of fact Im trying to get a friend of mine so far as to join me in a...what you call a compstomp (lol like that word). I've seen a diplomacy-introduction video by Frogboy and I like his idea of facing a 'vicious'-setting AI together with more players. Tho...perhaps 2 players versus that hard an AI aint enough and we 'll need more ;-). Or scale down the AI-setting. Once again thanks for the micro
I can't resist pointing out that "good warriors" play humans v. humans games on Ironclad Online and not silly computer AI that are incapable of strategic thought. In fact, if you log onto Ironclad Online you'll discover a much greater strategic challenge where, as you said, you often need to make your own luck (and doubly so in pro games).
I must admit that I find the 'Hard' and higher AI settings o.k. foes ;-) After all the talk about how insanely overpowered the pirat

So many good ideas around here. I posted already somewhere on this forum but this seems more the right place for any ideas about pirates... Normal Pirate raids and bases can be slightly stronger than they were/did in entrenchment, but not much. The raids were merely a nuisance after the opening stages of the game were over and thats ok by me because I agree with Rincewind pirates are after all...just pirates. No match for fully beefed up (teched) Solar Empir

[e digicons][/e] Thanks man! You know thats what Pirates should be: They HIT you where you (or your fortresses) aint. They are sneaky, FAST, elusive and hit your economy, merchant fleets. They steal from you and evade you, but arent able to detroy cap ships, fortresses, or even planets... On the other hand it should not be EASY to fight them so thats a dilemma. For that, I like the idea of paying them for a mission and as a result they are stronger. But that should be for

Its in deed a tough situation, what race are you playing this particular game? Both enemy fleets are together at 1 of those bordering planets you say? Then I agree with Darvin. Always fight on your own terms (Sun Tzu ;-). Set up a trap, lure them into a fight you will win (basically that's what Darvin is saying I think). Maximise your defenses and try to lure them into attacking your fleet plus defenses. Take the initiative, for example attack their 'fleetless' planet with any

Just tried another game with pirates. 1v1 (a hard enemy). Me advent, he TEC. After an hour or two of play I lost...defeated by? The Pirates. Meaning I needed everything to keep them at bay and the damage they did was SO big after every raid that my TEC opponent could conquer all the planets in the system, building up easy peasy, while all I was doing basically came down to keeping the swarming pirates at bay. I did everything some1 can do to have a maximum powergain (ships, defenses, tec

Yeah I get what you mean...I too had a fully fortified planet destroyed by pirates. There was 150 mines (the max), there was a starbase with max armor/hitpoints/shields and max weapons and 14 bomberbays. On top of that there were 2 repair platforms and an antimatter recharger -I played the advent- next to it (forgot its name), 7 beamplatforms in synergy and 5 hangar defenses. Not to mention I was fully teched (no more techs left to discover). After they leveled that planet comple
