I keep getting a mini dump on a custom map. Usually quite a way into the game when I am sending diplo crusiers off to another system that I have a cease fire with. Is anyone interested in the dump files, if so where do upload them to? Thx.

Thanks - yes the game is typically using somewhere around 1.3G of memory when I Alt-Tab and look at it in task manager. So is there any harm in saving the current game then killing the sins process when I want to quit?

In my increasingly fruitless effort to create a game that lasts a decent length of time I made a custom map with 100 stars each with 7-9 planets and have been playing this on and off for a few weeks now. When I quit this game I get the stats pretty much instantly, however when I click the return to main menu button it takes a very very long time and pretty much locks up the machine unitil the main menu dispalys. I notice this also happens to a lesser extent with smaller maps (eg Random

Damn no AI changes apart from tactical targeting AI. So I suppose the AI will still handle starbases badly, not build them outside of planets etc. At least the Advent starfish got a bit of a buff and in any sort of numbers should be a threat to SB's. I really really really hope the poor Vasari AI has learnt not to suicide en masse on the nearest SB :(

I would *like* to preorder but when I head over to the store or go into impulse there is no "buy" link for the Diplomacy beta. The links are there for Sins / Entrenchment etc. What am I doing wrong? Edit: Ok done now - I worked out how to do it through Impulse.

Hmm - riding my hobby horse one more time. I still say that single player SINS would be a much different and probably better game if only the AI would build starbases in non-planet gravwells. Especially stars and wormholes but also at obvious non-planet choke points. And give the Vasari the sense to counter SB's properly - either bring enough fleet with bombers or actually build a Orky in the gravwell or something. At least the Advent do occasionally send enough of the starfish things

AFAIK it is not possible to mod the AI beyond a few constants that define values for the "Aggresive", "Defensive", "Researcher", "Economic" choices you can make when setting up a game - I haven't played with changing these(yet) so I am not sure what effect they have. It doesn't seem to make a whole heap of difference what style of opponent you select when it comes to the some of the stupider AI behaviours - the AI will still sacrafice it's fleets against SB's /not fully research etc.</p

Thanks Darvin3 - once again excellent points. I agree the long games are getting kind of boring as I know I will win - that is why I felt the need to vent in my original post. I can't even remember losing a planet to the AI in recent times. But I want long hard struggles, with lots of setbacks, to dominate the universe - otherwise whats the point! Perhaps I should be playing Eve online...no no no... must resist... I still have a life despite SINS. I don't use the super weapons o

Yes lots of people like multiplayer. Thats great. I have no issue with MP and love reading all the posts re balance issue, how to counter a scout rush, carrier spam, lrm spam etc. If thats whats fun to you then great - go for it. If most people like MP why has this game sold so many copies and there are so few MP players? Is it just the balance issues? Or are there more people out there who, like me, just want to come home from work, deal with family life etc then get an hour or

Thanks Darvin3 With regard to starbases I guess we are talking two different approaches to playing single player - I like a long game on a large map with multiple systems and am not into rushing the AIs - I don't know if such an approach would work on a huge maps with four hard AI's - I can't rush them all at once. With 4 hard AI's on a 5+ system map with lots of planets neutrals etc economies tend to ramp up quite fast so the cost of starbases is not so much of an issu

There are any number of posts in these forums discussing multiplayer balance issues but fewer from a single player perspective. I find this surprising given the realitive number of game purchases and people who seem to be playing multiplayer. Do single player people play for a while then give up? Anyhow I have spent insane amounts of time playing SP the last few months (even to the point where the missus and kids refer to SINS as "that bloody game"). Typically I am playing TEC against 2

Thanks Raging Amish. Yes online is probably where I will end up eventually - once I have exhausted the possibilities of the AI. At the moment I am still way too much of a noob at this game. Just reading the forums re the great LRF/carrier debate shows me how much out of my depth I would be against real players :) I was just very surprised to find that the poor Vasari AI effectively has no counter to starbases - at least the Advent have an anti-structure ship. &nbsp

Ok thanks people. It makes my sp multi star games all a bit pointless then when I can use such a simple, and somewhat tedious, strategy :(. I suppose I should go back to vanilla sins if I want loooong games against decent opposition, but I do love all the goodies in Entrenchment. I guess expecting an "AI" to be able to react to all possible player strategies is asking to much, but the AI seems particuarly uncreative in its approach to using starbases itself or in attacking the pla

Hi Yesterday I was playing Entrenchment as TEC on a huge random map against a single Vasari opponent on hard AI. By the time I had secured my home sytem with 4 starbases at the star, star bases on each side of the wormholes that linked my home system to one other, the AI had pretty much colonized all the remaing 5 stars, so I should have been toast or at least had a hard fight ahead of me? As it turned out it was pretty easy - jump to each star with a moderate fleet (3 caps +
