So Pbhead, what is your take on phase missiles? (That's right, I dare you, I double dare you!) So rebellion will be all about multiplayer and will have no single player games to play? Did I get that correctly from this thread?

It can be annoying, but you committing a few scouts to this cause will possibly be a bit much to ask for. And even then, I wonder of a few scouts can do enough damage to actually take out the ships in enough quantity that parking the scouts just for this is a good investment. I really doubt that it will be worth it, and it may be a tactic that you can use to steal a credit here and there, but that is it.
I think the best buff to pirates (from what they were in entrenchment) would have been to make them attack a number of planets at once with small-moderate forces. That's what pirates did, they attacked ships that weren't guarded, they were everywhere the navy wasn't looking. That's what SOASE pirates should do as well - attack a few planets at once. It would be harder to defend against a multi-front assault and the pirates would be up fer some
Indeed some very good suggestins in here. Is the AI open for modding like in Civ4, or is the AI hard coded? I suppose it is hard coded since otherwise it would have been modded already but I thought I'd just ask... I would be one happy player if they would change the AI in the ways suggested in here.
Blue will dislike you more if you attack them, and if you attack their target then they may like you more. This is one of the many factor, and this is the 'military action' factor to be precise about it. Attack a mutual enemy and your relations should improve somewhat. I found that an AI that offers anything in diplomacy, then it is most likely to open with a trade pact. This improves relations a bit in itself if I am not mistaken. Beyond that it is basically doing missions. Y
wrong, they attack the person who has the highest bid against themwhich, with the annoying habit of outbidding you 0.0001 seconds before the end of the 'auction' the AI presents, means that yes, he is somewhat right: the pirates always attack the player .
This is what I thought too. But you hear the warning 'intelligence reports a pirate raid is inevitible!' - or something similar. At that point you still have about ten seco
On a side note: you can upload maps by clicking 'downloads' in the top bar, and then under maps you select the option to upload. Where else would you find it? ;)
EDIT: nevermind, stoopid question. :(
Meh, SC2 will not be something to look forward too I'm sure. It will like the original too much but with improved graphical stuff and such. The concept of the RTS where you toss units at each other like that no longer interests me, I prefer anything where thinking is favored over fast clicking.
Your not allowed to talk about pirates.
Cause they may get mad an come for me?
{snip}Here is one possible trade route: Ice (near) - Homeworld - Wormhole - Ice (far) Even though the far ice is connected to asteroid #3 (the one on the far right), the trade route cannot extend there. I do not understand how I created a loop, since asteroid #3 as you call it never had a trade port. I had a port on
Everybody thanks for the replies! So I found out that it is in fact possible to avoid raids, but you need to check the auction the pirates hold - which is indeed silly, why would the pirates announce any raid? But right now, I managed to avoid a raid or two by sniping the auction myself. Because I was not that sneaky before I missed the auction, but right now I guess I will not do that again... With pirates off, is it still possible to bribe them to go after anyone? In ot
I am unsure how to take that. How did I shorten my chain? The two planets in the top left corner are connected, and then the planet to the right is connected through a star base at the wormhole with merchant docks. This makes for 3 planets being connected, correct?
So I got the game two days ago and I played diligently ever since. I think I got the hang of it, although I am of course not very good yet. After winning a few games with fixed teams I thought I'd try my luck with a FFA and with pirates on. So how do you guys deal with pirates early in the game? It seems that no matter what I do, the AI bids on getting a pirate raid against me at the very, very last second, and so I am faced with a decent pirate fleet early in the game. The pirates co
So what is the deal with these trade routes? In the screeny you see three of my planets. I got trade docks there, and then a starbase as suggested in the black hole spot. The starbase got the merchant docks upgrade (yay I remembered a name). I did this before I saw the advice not to do it. Anyway, when I now hover over my credit income I see no white line. Did I do something wrong?
Thanks for the replies. I got the advent on a random and I clearly have no clue what I am doing. :) On another note, how can I send fleets to other star systems? I looked all over the tech tree but I spot no tech that may allow me to send ships to my allies.
Thnx. One more then since you guys are so helpful. I destroyed the cap ship of one tool of an enemy and then I managed to to grab the vulcano planet next to his capitol planet. I defended it with a starbase. In between my home worlds and this vulcona planet is this asteriod field that has enemy extractors on the metal-extractors. For some reason my ships won't destroy them yet I hovered next to them - and I had a colony vessel there as well - and suddenly I captured one of the extract
OK thanks, I think I get it now. I thought that the number in red - that is the amount of money that the planet costs me - was actually the amount that the colony made me, so when I saw it go down when hovering over the upgrade I thought it was a poor upgrade. :D So when I have two planets in a line, then a wormhole, then another planet, can I get a trade route there or will this not work because the line is broken? I am unsure what it is called, but these trade goods freighters... Ch
Thanks for the quick response. Will the ship that hauls the resources not get shot down? Also you can normally place mines on those metal asteroids, right? Why would I need a refinery then? Do the refinery yields add up to the yields the mine gets anyway? Where can I see these population planetary upgrades? Is that the upgrade in the top-left on the upgrade bar? Is it an improvement that I unlock with a tech?
Hey guys! So I got Sins from my fiance last night, and I played a game or two with locked teams and pirates off... Now I was wondering what I ned to do with refineries... I can't figure out what it is they do. When would I want to build them? Also I do not understand why some planets lose me money and why I get 0 population on them. How do I get people on my planet and how do I make my planets into money makers rather than money sinks? I see no buildings that would help in the
Thanks I most definitely will do that. I browsed around a bit and there is an amount of info in here that is nothing short of staggering. I guess I will start with pirates off, and as TEC to get a hang of it since they are strong economically, and then play with a fixed team so I do not get raped while I am still learning. Maybe I will even try a 3v2 if that can be done. I dislike easing into things like expansions, so I want the full picture rather than easing into it.
Had a better look around and learned that diplomacy is the one I want to play, or 'trinity'. I am unsure yet how to select that but I am sure I will figure it out. Sorry for wasting your time! [e digicons]|-)[/e]
So on the front page I saw something about a review of trinity on impulse. there they said that trinity came with three games for the price of one. Since I ordered a copy of trinity yesterday I was wondering, will I be able to run a game with all the content that entrenchment and diplomacy added in the game, or can I only run one expansion at a time? How does this work?
