We started with a new game after i did the optomization project, and it still pasuses for the host but the other computer just slows down a little bit, not as much though. We play on Lan, we don't have a network so we just hookup an ethernet cable to both computers and play on Lan. Is there a better way of doing this, because i do have a router, would that help? In the game i did check the pings and his ping would jump up and down, and a crazy thing happened in the game wher

Both computers are dual core, we play with small fleets sizes, i just downloaded the sins optimaztion mod and installed and we tryed again, and it still pauses for the host, and we play on a single star with around 60 planets. We don't play with any other programs open.
Yes, i'm playing the original with version 1.191, ive not downloaded the sins optimization project, im gng to go ahead and do that, and the same with my friend. Both are computers are 2 ghz+, and 3-4 G ram, we both play with minimal settings with graphics and user interface and effects, one star system with two computers and about 50-60 planets, i know its not our computers, and we've done everything to increase performance but when we get an hour or two into the game it slows down
My friend and I love to play this game, we play on a team against unfairs, but we've had to cut down our graphics to min., and our fleet sizes to min, and our maps to one star and max of 50-60 planets. Before we did this the game would slow down so much that one second in the game was around 10 seconds real time. Now it still slows down but not as much and whomever is hosting the game pauses, not slows down, it pauses for 5-10 seconds, then firebolts back into the game, not sure w
