[quote who="SpaceThug" reply="64" id="3025594"]I have a hard copy of the original SoASE but I just purchased the trinity pack from Steam. I like Steam a lot and I am very happy with how it works normally. I downloaded and installed the game with no problem, but when I try to launch the game a Stardock Account Regostration page pops up asking for my stardock account email, password the the serial number from the game. I entered al

There are a few things to keep in mind: 1) We're still taking care of the Thanksgiving backlog, so there may be some delay in our response. Please be patient, we will get back to you. 2) When you send us an email, it resets the "Last Activity" on the ticket, which is what our system uses to order the tickets. This means every time you send us an email, your ticket gets moved to the end of the queue. To prevent delays, try to avoid multiple emails.

It's possible it has something to do with your video card. It uses shared memory, rather than dedicated memory, so it's possible the way XP handles that is different than Vista or 7. Sins technically requires 128MB of video memory, and shared memory doesn't quite fit that bill. Not saying that's definitely the cause, but it's a likely suspect.

You can try manually changing the resolution in the settings files. You can find them here: C:\Users\YOUR_USER_NAME\AppData\Local\Ironclad Games\Sins of a Solar Empire\Setting You'll have to turn on hidden folders to see the 'AppData' folder. The files you want are user.setting and diplomacy.user.setting

Per the EULA, you can install on up to 2 (two) computers as long as you're the main user. If you want to play online with both computers at once, though, you'll need a registration for each for your ICO account(s).

It's possible your video card might be having trouble. It looks similar to issues I have with the RAM on my card a while back. Try reinstalling the game, and making sure your drivers are up to date, and if that doesn't work, I'd look into getting the card checked out.

Impulse uses MD5 error checking to make sure what you download doesn't get corrupted along the way. The way MD5 works (and this is an over simplication, I'll grant you, but it works for our purposes), is similar to taking a sentence, assigning number values to each letter (a=1, b=2, etc), and adding up the corresponding numbers to get a sum. That's your "MD5" (though the real MD5 creates a much more unique signature than that). Then tell someone that sentence, and have

You all have the right of it. Initially, for pre-orders and whatnot, Trinity was a bundle, where you would get seperate registrations and keys for the base game, Entrenchment, and Diplomacy. When the boxed version was coming about, Trinity became its own thing, with only one key. The content is exactly the same, the files themselves, with some very minor exceptions (launcher, etc), are the same, and for things like multiplayer, they're 100% compatible. With Trinity,

The files are located here: On Vista/7: C:\Users\YOUR_USER_NAME\AppData\Local\Ironclad Games\Sins of a Solar Empire\Setting On XP: C:\Documents and Settings\YOUR_USER_NAME\Local Settings\Application Data\Ironclad Games\Sins of a Solar Empire\Setting

Actually, you'll download 5 data files, and an installer, which essentially installs the game using Impulse from the data files. You won't need Impulse installed, just the files you downloaded.
