Generally, you start by colonizing a nearby asteroid. They require no upgrades to colonize, and have the smallest milita guard. A colonizing captial ship can usually do the job solo. Remember to keep a mix of ships. A combination of Light Frigates and Long Range Frigates are good vs Pirates if you get attacked early, and later on it's good to keep some anti-air frigates around. A mixed fleet will outperform a single-unit fleet every time. Don't overextend early. Grabe an aster

They Mayans also thought mounted soldiers were demon centaur creatures and sacrificed children to appease volcanoes. I don't put a lot of stock into their scientific input as something still currently applicable. The Mayans who were writing the caldendar probably just got eaten by something or got sick and died before they finished. I don't pretend to know when the world will end, but I have a hard time believing that that the Mayans had that figured out.

That makes sense. I thought it was kind of odd that Illuminators did captial damage. Is there any reason for a revelation cruiser? It seems to be mediocre at best. Could I open with Drone hosts and be just as effective at clearing pirates and/or destroying enemy buildings?

As advent I build 2 scouts and place Cap factory FIRST and start a mothership.(I scrap the Cap factory after mothership is built) Then I place the three extractors. The Mothership is more than enough to land your first asteroid, and between your home planet and the asteroid, you have 3 logistical slots before upgrades. What I'll usually do with that on a large map is dump money into Military research until I have 3 of them, and then make a small fleet of Illuminators.

To suggest an answer to an earlier question about using range...would it be at least somewhat effective to set the fleet to a loose formation? It would require more adjustment time between targets for the Illuminators. Or you could jump them like Seige Tanks from Starcraft. With two fleets of assailants, you could attack the Illuminators with one and set the other one to run. As soon as the Illuminators switch targets, switch group tactics. It takes a lot of attention, but it might wo

I've been browsing the board for a little while, and I've got several questions about running an advent fleet. First off, the only two cap ships I've really seen mentioned are the Radiance and the Mothership except for a few minor support abilities. I also did the math to try and compare how much bang you get for your buck. The only two that stood out combat-wise were the Illuminator and the Drone Host. I also noted that the Illuminator, unlike the other LRM frigates, does Cap
