Ok, I've gotten to the point where I can take on the small and medium maps with relative ease. But I am getting my butt kicked with the large maps that have more than one star system. My problem is that I get close to taking over my specific system, but around this time I'm usually attacked by several computer armies who seem to be aligned. I try to carry out jobs from the computer players, but their friendliness only seems to last a short while. I make a trade agreement and very often the gr

I haven't really found my favorite of the three races. I'm still trying to get a feel for each, and I have found very cool attributes with each. I think my main problem is that I'm kind of a Simms player. I try to build my planets up over time only to find that the enemy has built a large army and is now crushing my empire. LOL, but I'm having a good time in the process. Thx for the suggestion.
I probably should clarify something regarding my above post. I was simpy stating facts regarding the costs of illegal aliens use of our health care system. I NO WAY am I suggesting that they themselves are bad or evil. In fact, I just happen to be a musician is a latin band whose members are predominantly Latino and have relatives who are here illegally. My group actually advocates for Latino's quite often at our shows. I'm just trying to point out the hypocrisy of our governmen
Do you protect EVERY area that you colonize? Do you spend the currency to protect asteroids or just allow the pirates to kill them occasionally? Because it take a lot of currency and time to fully protect a colonized area. It seems like my enemy always has one large army roaming all over the place which gives me the impression that he (the computer) does not heavily protect EVERY area and simply allows some areas to be conquered, then re-colonized.
Awesome help so far guys thanks.
If I take my army away from my planets in order to conquer the enemy I leave my planets open to pirate attack. How can I best protect my planets without having to pay a continual expensive bounty? Is there a minimum amount of ships that can be built to defeat these guys? thank you,
Forget all of what you have heard for a mintue and ponder this: The main reason we are told we need health care reform is because of rising costs. Two of the MAJOR factors that contribute to these costs are the expenses due to litigation and the costs of taking care of illegal immigrants who can't and/or don't pay for their services. These are facts. Now, ask yourself this question. If rising costs are the stated reason for health care reform why is it that
Newbie here with a couple added questions. So I should not build defense platforms right away? I should invest in a capital ship and light frigates? How about research? Should I try to get high research or focus solely on a big army in the beggining? I have found that I can colonize a few planets relatively quickly, but I'm always fighting the pirates (even if I put bounty on my enemy) and inevitably my enemy shows up at one of my planets with a GIANT army.
thx much for all the suggestions. I think my weekend will be devoted to this game. LOL
This is the newbiest of newb questions so please excuse me. And yes I have checked some of the prior posts but even those were a little higher than my needs. I have started my very first game against computer players. It is a small map and I have a single planet with two hyperspace (or whatever they are called) links to two areas near my main planet. I used a scout this to go to each area. One area is what looks like an ice planet. I was attacked and fled. The other area seems to be n
