Mod freezes when Changes Applied in Sins Modding Sins Forums

I was tooling around with the tutorial on modding for entrenchment, and I did exactly the easy one about weak vasari. The mod shows up in the game but as soon as I pressed apply changes the game locks up and I have to reboot. To be fair I also tried changing a couple of tech battleship numbers a bit, just to see if i could make that gauss gun a bit stronger, but i don't think thats my problem.
