I played a 2s game a decent while ago. Late game, it was down to me and another player. I was AR and he was TL. He began to spam corvettes, making a fleet of approx. 160+. I thought of trying something new instead of the standard flak defense, so I created a fleet of Destra Crusaders with Ruthlessness, which does 1.5 DPS (non-stacking). I figured Ruthlessness coupled with a relatively small flak fleet would be able to take out his vetts. However, I quickly discov

Just played a one vs one with both me and my opponent playing Advent Rebels. The game was going well for both sides, and there was a tremendous amount of tug and pull. But the entire game shifted when my opponent pulled out two (2) Iconus Guardians with Repulsion. No matter what I threw at his fleet, mine would simply be decimated, and I have absolutely no idea how or why. I've heard of this technique, but I have never heard of it being entirely effective,
Lol same old arguments. My point really addressed the time and resources, not to mention the planets that are required to get to wail. Whilst maintaining a fleet that can win. No I stand by my original argument. If you're letting a vasari player get his titan to level 6, you've probably already lost and it's just a matter of time. With or without using Maw.
Red, I see where you're coming f
I had a quick thought as to the rules. Should, for VL, we allow The Maw but ban Desperation? The latter seems to be the one that most people have the problem with, since it can take out herds of corvettes and practically anything else. This would make the VL titan, however, not particularly useful in comparison to others until it reaches lvl 6 for The Maw... Just a thought.
I just signed up, and I must say, this is looking incredibly awesome right now!
Um... reflex I registered at the site but there doesn't seem to be anywhere to actually sign up for the tourny itself. Do you have to open registration or something?
Same. I registered, but find no way to join...do I simply PM you?
Match outcomes can really be influenced by bad maps, even competitive maps act like a teenage girl sometimes, and turn out to be even worse than a normal random map..
Agreed. However, this is one of the aspects of SOASE....although having some perfectly equal maps would make the tournament much more balanced....
The only problem that I see would be, as you already stated, communicating appicable gaming times. Those who would sign up would have to give their Steam username in order for communication to be the smoothest. Then comes the question, how - or who - choses the matches for each player? Are we seriously going to write a program to do it for us, or will be do it based off of ranking? For instance, have a tournament of players between 0-100 games total, 101-200 games tota
To the Multiplayers, Those of you who play any "5 vs 5" games knows that there is the infamous "Suicide Spot," the position where you are surrounded by enemy players and your entire team is on the other side of the system. There is no hope of running, as you will be caught and destroyed within minutes. There is no hope of attacking, as your enemy closes in from all sides with seemingly endless fleet supply. The only possibility of survival is to sit and pray that you
Ok, first, your strategy for researching STTC ASAP is quite interesting, but thoroughly flawed, hence why you basically got owned by other players with an actual fleet. The major problem that I see is that STTC leaves the planet barren and unable for the collection of tax income. This means that although you do get a quick boost in your economy, in the long run, you're going to be screwed, as is practically everyone else. Two: I am curious as how you have been su
Well.. I am Eros... and it hasnt happened again since the two times it happened that were metioned. Unfortunately, that means I have - or had - some problem wit
Whatever causes it, I think that we can all agree it's annoying and it's becomming much more common on ICO. I definitely think that a patch should be made so that you can re-enter a game after you've MD, but it may have to include a whole multiplayer setup change, which would take some time to program. Hopefully the new patch will help solve some of the issues.
Just posted about this, was referred to this post.
In response to Protoplazm's other post (on which he was referred to this post), I find it interesting - and I do not meant to immediately start pointing fingers here - that the common denominator here seems to be [_]-Eros. I mean, he could be doing whatever it is inadvertently, but still, his copy could have some bug or something in which this kind of glitch is more freq
Here's the screenshot. It didn't show before, so I reuploaded it. Hopefully this helps.
Hey Everyone, Alright, I just finished an awesome '5 vs 5' game that was going completely smoothly. However, about midway into it, another player name [_]-Eros (hopefully I spelled that right) and myself (KSSSWM) suddenly got some weird audio malfunction going on. Essentially, it sounded like we were talking to NASA, but that "NASA" was some TEC player. I was basically hearing everything that a player would normally hear if they were playing as the TEC f
Hey, um.... I just got an email from Stardock saying that my payment failed for the Collector's Edition. I don't exaclty know how or why this happened, seeming as how I preordered the thing almost immediately. Any suggestions, or should I just hold off until the 15th to reorder?
We can't just ban AR because of Wail . That would be like banning VL for Strip , it is not going to happen. It's primarily a late game solution to a spam of some light craft. I know, however, that occasionally people do start off incredibly early with tons of Harmony temples and research Wail and culture spam, but there are counters to anything and everything on SOASE! That's what makes it awesome! Culture spam them back!
Hey Everyone, Just thought that we should all be getting pumped up about the collector's edition finally shipping at the "end of September"! Seriously cannot wait for it! It's gonna' be the best thing ever! -KSSSWM
I had actually opened up another spot on the Multiplayer forum about VR's permanent banishment from multiplayer and how I believe we should maybe reconsider (if not now, then after the new patch). https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/429741/page/1/#3210392 But I understand what Ekko_Tek is saying: online games are starting to get a bit boring. The last game I played was a 5v5, 9 of the player
I completely understand what you're saying, but if any faction is in the eco spot, there is a high chance for a win by that team. For example, if each one of these teams were in the eco spot, this is most likely what they would do: TEC R: Novalith and Titan TEC L: Novalith and Dual SB Advent L: Titan Advent R: Titan and Wail Vasari L: Titan and Strip Vasari R: Mobile SB Each faction would immediately go for thier "special abili
Hello Multiplayer Fans, Before I begin, let me state that I fully understand the reasoning behind Vasari Rebels' "removal" from online play: their phase missiles are devastating, their Titan can be extremely difficult to destroy when under the control of a good player, other teams can use their phase stabilizer nodes, and, finally, their starbases can phase jump in-between planets. Now, I have never really given the VR any real thought, mainly since they are always b
Hello Multiplayer Fans, I recently played an online game with teams and was stuck battling against an AR player. Essentially, he mass-colonized, over-stretching himself severely, and then sat back and did nothing but culture. I send in my fleet to a practically completely undefended planet, to have them pummeled to death by two or three "Wail of a Sacrifice" abilities. To those of you unfamiliar with this ability, essentially AR has t
The time clock for multipayer games would be phenomenal, and I think that it would be a relatively easy implementation. Have it set up basically like the Diplomacy screen when you go to submit missions, but have it be before the game starts. However, the only problem that I see with it is how to determine a winner after time has run out. One player could have a larger fleet than the other, but be nowhere near to victory. Same thing goes with colonization and research.&
Yeah, I haven't ever really seen anyone ever on that server, plus, as you said, the permissions are all weird and screwed up (since I didn't make it). The last two games I've played though I have just used Skype: it's clearer and does not lag nearly as much as Teamspeak. Plus, I think that more people have Skype than Teamspeak. So I'm starting to get into the habit of whenever I join a game I ask if anyone has Skype and is willing to chat during the game.
