Thanks Sinperium! Good to be back!
Version 3.0 for Rebellion has now been uploaded! I changed my instructions so that people will treat it as an actual mod, rather than replacing their game files. Please let me know how it works, and let me know if you have any questions! Oh, and most importantly, enjoy! :)
Hmmm... good to hear! I guess that makes sense since you're only 48 pixels shy of the 768 pixels height requirement. I guess those using netbooks with a screen height of 720 pixels will be able to run Sins without my mod, but they'll be welcome to use the mod if they want. It will at least help ensure that they're able to press all of the buttons easily. As for progress on the mod--it's been a bit slow due to midterm season in school, but I did manage to work a bit on
Thanks for the info Lavo_2. Good to hear. I've started working on a version of the mod for Rebellion v1.04. It's coming along quite nicely. I've already got the single player screens worked out to start a game. There are just a few changes from Diplomacy to Rebellion that I'm working out. I plan to continue to mod the game to support the 1024x600 resolution, and if there are any other netbook resolutions with a height lower than 768, but higher than 600 (like 1
Thanks harlequin76! Alright, I'll begin work on a 1024x600 netbook resolution mod for Rebellion. It may take me a while since I'm pretty busy with school right now, but I should have time to work on it here and there. The first thing to do is to make sure it will run decently on most netbooks. I can test it on my Asus 1005HA, but I'd appreciate feedback from any others who have different netbooks with the 1024x600 resolution--putting Rebellion on it and turning the visual
Looks like it's working now. Here's the link from moddb to the Gamefront mirror just in case anyone else has trouble: http://www.gamefront.com/files/files/22253212/Infinite.Space.v1.00.rar
Thanks G_Bison! Good to hear from you again!
Hey everyone! My apologies for being gone for so long. I've actually been gone for the past two years serving a mission for my church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Thanks to all who helped guide other users to getting the lowres mod working on their netbooks. Sorry I was unable to respond. Also, thanks for all of the encouraging comments. I'm glad to hear that my mod has helped so many play this awesome game! I am curious if there is anyone who woul
Thank you G_Bison. I'm glad that that worked for you. I'm definitely planning on incorporating the SOP mod into my own netbook mod soon. Probably once I finish this semester here in a few weeks and have a little more free time. Thanks again for getting back to me on that and letting me know that it worked.
@Carbon016. Yes, if you're refering to copying my original netbook mod files over the Distant Stars mod files then you're right: that does work for the most part, but some things will be a little off. Namely the Research screens. That's why I made a seperate mod to put on top of the Distant Stars mod files. A lot of the files in the netbook mod I made for Distant Stars are the same as the original mod files, but I only included the ones you need and made changes to a lot of them to fine tune
Thanks for the compliment, SIN-Imperium. It's great that these forums have so many supporters for all of the different efforts going on to make this amazing game even better. The community here is truly amazing. :) Haha, yeah I'll have to see about adding support to the iPod shuffle. ;) Maybe I could implement the Shuffle's new text-to-speech capabilities to tell players what was going on in the game since they wouldn't be able to see anything. ;)
Hello everyone. Great mod, Distant Stars team. Just wanted to notify anyone with a netbook who might be interested in playing the Distant Stars mod on their netbook that I've added support to play the Distant Stars mod on netbooks in a new mod I've created for Diplomacy and Entrenchment. Here's a link: https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/362608/ Thanks again Distant Stars team!
Thanks Sin-Imperium and Major Stress. Your Optimization Mod looks very promising, Major Stress. I'll definitely see about adding that to my own mod as the netbooks could definitely use the performance boost. Thank you. And I would be glad to help out your mod in any way I can.
No problem. Glad to help. Yeah, let me know how it goes.
Sorry it's taken me so long to create a version of my mod for the Distant Stars mod, G-Bison. Luckily I had some time today to work on it, so I messed around with it and I think I've got it working just fine. I've uploaded Netbook Low Resolution (1024x600) mods for both the v0.9951 Beta Distant Stars mod for Entrenchment, and the v0.7 Beta Distant Stars mod for Diplomacy. I didn't bother making one for the Distant Stars mod for the original game since from what I could tell it still hasn't be
Sorry for the late reply, G_Bison. School's been insane lately. I'll see about adding support for the Distant Stars mod, but from what I can tell there are three different versions of the Distant Stars mod. One for Diplomacy, one for Entrenchment, and one for the original game. Which one would you be using (so I can know which files to change)? The only problem with adding my netbook mod support for the Distant Stars mod is that if they continue updating their mod and making changes i
No worries, diogo6. I'm glad you got it working.
Thank you very much for your most gracious reply, Daft. You are most welcome for the mod. I couldn't agree with you more about Stardock's unwillingness to add further support. I guess at least we can count on those "we can't do it" statements from Stardock for one thing; they sure drive my passion to make sure that it DOES happen. ;) I'm glad that my mod has been helping you guys. :)
:) You are far too kind Wyseman76. Thank you, and thanks for the reply. I'm glad that I was able to help. :)
Hello everyone again. I have now updated my mod to version 2.2. You can read the included notes for more info, but basically, I realized that the Diplomacy expansion uses a seperate user.setting file which means that HillbillyBoozer's original fix for any users that happen to have any problems with my mod wouldn't work if you were trying to play Diplomacy. In order to make the fix work with the Diplomacy expansion as well, you also have to edit the "diplomacy.user.setting" with HillbillyBooze
Hey guys. I noticed that with the Diplomacy expansion, the topbar has been modified in order to fit the new "Relationships" button and to help accommodate this, the section of the topbar that displays the amount of Crystal you have has been moved to the right a bit. This causes a slight issue with my mod since the very right bar of the background of some of the screens like the Research, and Diplomacy screens in my mod now cover up the Crystal display while in those screens. I had notic
@Wyseman76: Thanks for the support. This game has sure made my life much more enjoyable at college as well. I've added full support for Diplomacy and updated the info and links in the main part of this page to v2.0 so my mod should now work with all versions of Sins of a Solar Empire and both expansions as of now. Please let me know how it works everyone, and if you have any problems/concerns. I did quite a bit of testing so I think it should work great, but I'd love any feedback that you guy
@redkraken: I'm glad to here that my mod is working so well for you. I ride the bus as well, so I know how wonderful having a netbook can be during those long rides. :) @Zaij: Thanks for the feedback. It's great to hear that my mod is helping so many people. That makes all that time I spent worth-while. :) To answer your question, I was not planning on modding for diplomacy until after it came out. I haven't pre-ordered the game yet, but if enough people would like the beta modd
Thanks for your support everyone. I'm glad that my mod has been helping so many people. Keep the comments coming. I love to hear them! Sorry I haven't updated the instruction list yet. I've been very busy lately, and I think I may just wait for Diplomacy to come out so I can update everything at once.
