Something that has bugged me since WOM and was hoping to be seeing by now in the Beta for FE is the ability to upgrade unit size. You can upgrade weapons and armor, but not add a few troops to a unit? That Level 10 3-man archer unit that's been traveling with your Sov for 200 seasons loses effectiveness when the enemy is cranking out 7 man units. I don't want to kill off a high level troop just to get a weaker but larger unit. I want to RECRUIT. I expect this to be exp

I defeated Vetrar for the first time since beta .7 last night and now I can't do anything at all in the Tundra. it could be because Magnar built cities all around the area, but the green territory line is still there and I can't even drop an outpost. Am I missing something or is this a bug? Edit : Never mind, I just read the .914 change log. Looks like it'll be fixed there.

So I was able to finish my first protracted game last night without save corruption and only one AI quick killed by a monster. Was really fun. But something annoying started to happen about half way through. I started fighting my own custom units. Enemy AI's were training my custom units. Name, Weapons, Race, Custom look, Special Race Ability (Tarth Enduring), Everything... Even units I made 2 games prior using a race not present in the current game. Anyone else se

I've been using a basic gender based name like brothers, sisters, maidens, etc. followed by one of the unit traits. Favorite so far were my maidens of Rage... The were brutal.

I had 3 AI's drop out within 10 turns of each other in my first game, but I hadn't met any of them yet. Thought another AI was on the warpath. This makes more sense. [e digicons][/e]

The large Elementals that rule the the special locations (like the frozen lands) are extremely vulnerable to mass debuff spells. 1 Mass curse and 1 Wither were inflicted multiple time each. Resulting in among other things, a negative spell resistence. Single target spells only had a single effect (the on the make all hit critical) and I believe the mass version hit 9 times, so I makes me think the mass versions are applying their effects to each occupied square. I had several quests refuse to finish last night. First one was the Assassin's Blade. I went through the entire quest line killing all the way and when I finished was left with a basic long sword. Thought I missed up on the quest somewhere until about 70 turns later, when the sovereign entered a newly built city, it popped up a screen saying I completed the quest and the sword changed into upgraded version. Second was the one where you chase a Garrote around. I d

I played a good long session yesterday, into around season 475. I tried loading any of the saves I made yesterday, even one I had loaded to before and I get this exact SAME crash log as you (sans OS version). I can start a new game though... Agree, Specialize the hell out of gold producing cities. Hire Merchant Champs. Specialize and caravan food cities so you can afford the food upkeep on Merchant improvements. Sell materials to minor factions (or diplo, metal, crystals, and mounts if there is a surplus). Kill off useless troop units. And don't forget trade treaties either. Yes they may cost you a chunk of gold to entice the other faction, but they are worth it in the long run.

I read a post about the custom map maker that says the game uses "fixed" start points on the map templates. The poster noted the flaw with that being when the average person would make a map, they would naturally find the first start point and radiate out from there. So playing five factions on a large map with 10 or more start points ends up with half the map crowded and the other half devoid of life because the 5 starting points furthest from position 1 (yours) are not being used... Hope I'

I like the idea of adding bows and cbows. The archery tree really needs a workout, to say the least. Right now you can get more damage from equipment add-ons than from the weapon itself (Longbow 5 atk, equip 8 atk iirc) I also like the idea of arrow types. The easiest way to simulate them would be packs (like the vengeance coating). Archers, in a battle field scenario, would only carry a single type of ammo, maybe 2(limited specialty and standard). You wouldn't want 6 types of ammo in

Seen this as well. Loading isn't their only kryptonite, the deadly next turn button seems to finish off the undead as well. Looks like he game fixes this all on it's own, once it realizes they really dead. Reminds me of the old movies were the guys gets shot in the heart and stands there looking at the hole for a few minutes before dropping...

Would any of the terrain spells kill a road? I haven't tried it, but I can't imagine a impassible mountain or flooded tile would keep a road. Mana expensive thought, but there you go.

If you just starting playing, then you are going off the most current patches where the suicide rate had dropped drastically. At gold release the enemy sovs would walk a 50 combat rating stack and attack a 900 combat rating city. That was on beginner. Sov Suicide is much improved now, but I still rarely/randomly get them. Seems to be mainly when I take over a city that they were going to reach next turn.

I had an idea here to try and make another use for adventurers and all other hero types. Currently, it is also worth noting that the adventurer type hero seems to be the most likely to have a special power (Crushing blow, Ice blast, Vengeance, etc...), and tend to have higher starting physical stats.
